Career and technical education is one of the clearest expressions of that mission.
Why CTE Month Matters at UVU
CTE has been part of UVU’s identity since its beginnings as a trade and technical school, created to meet workforce needs during times of economic change. While the institution has grown, the original purpose of preparing students for work, advancement, and long-term stability remains at UVU’s center.
Today, CTE spans more than 50 programs across fields such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, information technology, transportation technologies, construction, business, and digital media. These programs serve traditional students, adult learners, working professionals, and military-connected students through flexible, stackable pathways aligned with workforce demand.
The Role of Faculty and Staff
UVU’s successful CTE programs would not be possible without coordinated efforts across campus. Faculty and staff contribute through teaching, advising, curriculum development, student support, and employer partnerships that help students translate education into opportunity.
Institutional data continues to reflect strong post-graduation outcomes for UVU students, including employment, continued education, and career advancement, reinforcing the value of applied learning and structured pathways.
What’s Happening This February
Throughout February, UVU will highlight career and technical education through program spotlights and a campus CTE Fair focused on increasing awareness of CTE pathways.
These efforts align with ongoing investments supported by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, which funds equipment, lab spaces, faculty development, and student engagement opportunities.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to share CTE opportunities with students, highlight career-connected learning within their programs, and participate in CTE Month activities.
