Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Spirit Squad has returned from the 2025 NCA & NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, with two prestigious trophies and national recognition.
Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Spirit Squad has returned from the 2025 NCA & NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, with two prestigious trophies and national recognition. The D1 Game Day Team, consisting of the Cheer Team, Dance Team, and Green Man Group, was awarded first place and the national championship title in the Game Day Division I category. The Division I All-Girl Cheer Team earned a third-place national finish in the Advanced All-Girl Division I category.
The 2025 NCA & NDA College Nationals brought together more than 10,000 athletes from over 470 college programs nationwide, making UVU’s achievements particularly significant in such a competitive field.
The Spirit Squad’s outstanding performances in Daytona reflect months of training, teamwork, and dedication. The Game Day Team and the All-Girl Cheer Team’s routine highlighted UVU’s school spirit and crowd engagement while demonstrating themselves among the nation’s top programs.
“These teams have worked incredibly hard to represent Utah Valley University on a national stage,” said Kati Marsing, assistant director of Student Leadership and Involvement. “We could not be more proud of our students and all they have accomplished. It is incredibly rewarding to see their dedication recognized and to witness the strong bonds formed through experiences like these. Go UVU!”
For the student-athletes, the experience went far beyond the competition itself.
“The experience was so amazing — not just for the competition, but for the strong bond our team has built throughout the season. We’ve supported each other through every challenge, and competing on that stage together was a moment I’ll never forget,” said Ivy Akin, UVU Cheer Team captain.

The Spirit Squad’s success serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to exceptional results and school spirit. NCAA Division 1 (D-1) is the highest level of college athletics certified by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. There are five divisions in which schools compete depending on school size, number of team members, and level of competition — Division 1, Division 1A, Division 2, Junior College, and NAIA.
