The Utah Valley University (UVU) Cheer Team successfully defended its collegiate cheer national title by delivering two zero-deduction routines at the USA (United Spirit Association) Spirit Nationals on Feb. 22 in Anaheim, California. The UVU Cheer Team competes in the USA Four-Year College All-Girl Show Cheer Advanced division. As the inaugural competition of the season, 12 rookies made their competitive debut.
“UVU is incredibly proud of these student-athletes,” said Trista Tempest, program director of the spirit squad. “They are not only outstanding cheerleaders but also remarkable individuals of character and integrity. The leadership, resilience, and teamwork they demonstrate extend far beyond competition. As they move toward graduation and into the workforce and their communities, I have no doubt they will continue to excel and make a meaningful impact.”
The UVU Cheer Team, along with the school’s Spirit Squad, has a history of excellence, including holding the title of NCA Division 1 Game Day National Champions since 2022. The UVU Cheer Team's recent performance underscores the athletes’ dedication and resilience, setting a promising tone for the remainder of the season.
