Utah Valley University is aware of a recently reported data security incident involving Instructure, the provider of the Canvas learning management system used by many colleges and universities nationwide.

The Canvas system is now available. Faculty and Students should be able to access class work and resume normal operations. We are actively monitoring this situation and appreciate patience as we continue to evaluate the incident. We will share additional information as it becomes available. Utah Valley University is aware of a recently reported data security incident involving Instructure, the provider of the Canvas learning management system used by many colleges and universities nationwide. Canvas is unavailable at this time.
Faculty can communicate any relevant course information to students through UVU email and Teams. If you are unsure of how to contact students via email, you can find your roster in myUVU under the Faculty Services tab. Click on Faculty Class Lists, Wait Lists, and Rosters to find a list of your courses. If faculty are using course materials linked in Canvas, please be aware that students may not be able to access them to complete course assignments.
We are informing students who may have questions regarding their courses that they may email faculty using their UVU account or by using Teams and reminding them that they can find faculty members’ email addresses in the course schedule in myUVU.
We are closely monitoring updates from Instructure as the company continues its investigation. As always, UVU students and employees should monitor their accounts closely for unexpected activity and report any concerns to [email protected]. We will share additional information and guidance as soon as it becomes available.
