Get Involved in UVU Policymaking Process

To provide an additional opportunity for your voice to be heard, we are announcing a policy “crowdsourcing” initiative.

Policies set expectations and define UVU’s philosophies, values, and culture. We  value the insights of our students, faculty, and staff in the university’s policy process. While suggestions to improve policies are welcome, particularly during the policy review process, we especially want to hear from you now. To provide an additional opportunity for your voice to be heard, we are announcing a policy “crowdsourcing” initiative.

More specifically, we invite employees and students to suggest new policies or updates for current policies through a survey. For your reference, current UVU policies are readily accessible in UVU’s Policy Manual.

Think of this survey as a giant suggestion box. It will be open from Feb 8-18. For more information and the steps to make policy suggestions, visit your my UVU portal and the UVAnnounce section. You may also access the survey here.

If you feel strongly about a particular policy suggestion, you are also invited to contact the appropriate policy sponsor (a vice president, or the presidents of Faculty Senate, UVUSA, or PACE) to consider your policy suggestion and potentially enter the suggested new policy or policy revision into UVU’s policy process. It will then be considered for further action by President’s Council in accordance with UVU Policy 101, Policy Governing Policies.

Additionally, in coordination with vice presidents, the policy coordinator committee is undertaking a review of policies in the Policy Manual to identify outdated policies that should be considered for deletion.

We encourage your participation in this policy crowdsourcing initiative and look forward to your ideas.

Sincerely,

Linda Makin
