Join UVU Army ROTC on June 13 for a WWII D-Day Leadership Presentation at Roots of Knowledge. Explore lessons from Omaha Beach and celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. Free and open to all.

On Friday, June 13, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Roots of Knowledge (Fulton Library), UVU’s Army ROTC program will host a WWII D-Day Leadership Presentation. This event highlights the historical significance of Operation Overlord and the leadership lessons drawn from one of the most pivotal moments in military history.
Cadets Monson McKay, Nathaniel Lambert, Cade Bloomer, and Wade Pritchard will guide attendees through the key operations that took place on Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and other critical points during the Allied invasion of Normandy. Their presentation is the result of extensive preparation and is intended to both educate and inspire, drawing connections between past and present leadership in military and civilian life.
This event also serves as a preview of the Army ROTC program’s upcoming Staff Ride to London and Normandy, where participating cadets will walk the terrain of D-Day and study leadership in action on historic ground. Staff rides are immersive experiences designed to strengthen future Army officers by combining tactical education with real-world history.
Following the presentation, the program will host the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony, a long-standing tradition in which the youngest and oldest Soldiers present cut the cake together. This tradition honors the continuity of service and the passing of knowledge from one generation of Soldiers to the next.
All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. This is an opportunity to reflect, learn, and celebrate the values of service, leadership, and resilience.
