For this year’s commencement, Utah Valley University is shining a spotlight on the achievements and experiences of its graduating class.
For Alex Fritcher, UVU has always felt like home. Growing up in Lindon, Utah, with a view of the UVU practice dome from his back deck, UVU soccer was part of his life long before he ever wore the jersey.
Now a business finance graduate and three-year member of the Wolverines men’s soccer team, Fritcher recently completed his final season as captain, an experience he called both surreal and deeply meaningful.
“This was always the dream,” he said. “To live it out here, so close to home, means everything to me.”
Fritcher said soccer has taught him discipline, resilience, and how to persevere through challenges. His final season was especially memorable as the team competed in the new UCCU Stadium. Having played at facilities across the country, he said it stands among the best in college soccer.
“Walking into that stadium changes your mindset,” he said. “It creates a sense of pride and raises the standard for all of us.”
As he prepares to step into the next chapter of his life, Fritcher said he remains grateful for the chance to represent UVU and for those who made his journey possible.
