Become a Fellow

The Utah Valley University Faculty Directors of the Read-A-Difference Fellowship announce the opening of the Read-A-Difference Fellowship for the 2026-2027 Academic Year! We are looking for teams of Utah Elementary School teachers who are all teaching the same grade level (3rd, 4th, or 5th) to apply for the Read-A-Difference Fellowship.

Who Can Participate?

At minimum a teacher partnership (2 teachers) up to a complete teacher team (3rd, 4th, or 5th) within the state of Utah who are interested in an opportunity to enhance the reading motivation of the students in their classroom.

What is Expected of Those Who Participate

  1. Complete Application (see below)
  2. Teachers must be at minimum a team of teachers (2 teachers) up to a complete cohort of teachers teaching at the same grade level (3rd, 4th, 5th) for 2026-2027.
  3. Building level Principal must be in support and willing to keep the cohort of teachers together through the 2026-2027 academic year.
  4. Attend the UVU Love of Reading Conference (September 2026)
  5. Attend and Present at the UVU Love of Reading Conference (Fall 2027)
  6. Participate in consultation with UVU Faculty as scheduled throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
  7. Create a Reading Motivation plan the 2026-2027 school year.
  8. Participate in designing and implementing a large-scale reading motivation incentive event.
  9. Provide access to and support data collection activities before, during and after 2026- 2027 school year. Data collection activities include but are not limited to pre and post assessments, Interviews of teachers, observation of instruction, teacher journaling, and focus groups.

What Teachers Receive for Their Participation

  1. Group and individual consultation with UVU Faculty
  2. Teacher stipend distributed during May 2027.
  3. Book stipend (to purchase books for classroom and to give away to students)
  4. Financial support for carrying out a large-scale reading motivation event for students.
  5. Registration to attend the 2026 and 2027 UVU Love of Reading Conference.
