Leadership for Personal and Social Impact

Complete the following 5 courses (16 credits) while pursuing your degree 

1. SLSS 1120: Leadership and Civic Engagement (3 credits)

2. SLSS2500 Leader: Strengths-based Inner Coach (3 credits)

-or-  SLSS 1200 or 1200H: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (3 credits)

3. SLSS3200 Leader: Teacher and Mentor (3 credit) 

4. SLSS 4050G Leader: Global Contributor (3 credits) 

  • Course also counts as G/I (Global/Intercultural) requirement for graduation
  • Prerequisite: Placement of ENGL 1010 or higher

5. SLSS 4800 Leader Capstone: Lifelong Change Agent (4 credits)

  • Department Approval Required for SLSS 4800, contact Beth Reid
  • Prerequisite: Students must be on track to successfully complete either SLSS 2500 or SLSS 3200 before enrolling in this class

Certificate Process
Above are all the required courses. While you can take the classes in any order, the list above is a natural progression to follow.
PLANNING ON ENROLLING OR ALREADY ENROLLED?

The Leadership by Design Minor includes courses that you might already be taking for other SLSS programs like the Leadership for Personal and Social Impact Certificate. Any eligible credits you have taken before the minor became available in Fall 2024 will be counted towards it so you may only need a few credits to qualify for the minor!
