Presenting Opportunities

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works (URCW) is committed to supporting and promoting undergraduate research and creative activities in all disciplines.

• Students whose abstracts are accepted to present at UCUR must request to have their registration fee covered by the URCW. This includes every member of a presentation team. Students who are approved to and have their registration covered are committing to attend and present their research. ANY STUDENT THAT DOES NOT ATTEND AND PRESENT WHOSE REGISTRATION IS PAID BY URCW IS REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE THE URCW FOR THE COST OF REGISTRATION PLUS A PROCESSING FEE OF $10. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any fees not reimbursed by the student will be charged to the faculty mentors department. No additional funding awards will be available until reimbursement is made. 
• Only current UVU students with accepted abstracts are elligible to have their registration covered by the URCW. 
  • Those that are inelligible for registration coverage are: 
    • Students that have graduated.
    • Non UVU presenters.
    • UVU students that are not presenters.
    • Faculty in any capacity, to include faculty mentors, authors and contributors
  • Any inelligible individual that registers and charges the fee to the URCW will be removed from registration and potentially removed from the conference.
• Each member of an accepted abstract that plans on attending and presenting at UCUR MUST register to attend individually. If you are a member of more than one team, please only register one time. You will need to register using your same name and email that the abstract was submitted under if you are the lead author that submitted the abstract. If you are a co-author, you will need to create your own account and registration as it will not be automatically created from the abstract submission and will not be done for you.
• Due to limited funding, the URCW will not  cover any travel expenses including hotel, meals or transportation.
• Students planning on attending UCUR will need to plan ahead to cover travel expenses. 

Each year the Undergraduate Research and Creative Works (URCW) Office is committed to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study by paying the cost of registration for those students whose proposals are accepted to present at NCUR and meet all the below requirements. 

Please note the following:

• Students whose abstracts are accepted to present at NCUR must request to have their registration fee covered by the URCW. Due to limited funding only first authors will be considered.  Students who are approved to and have their registration covered are committing to attend and present their research. ANY STUDENT THAT DOES NOT ATTEND AND PRESENT WHOSE REGISTRATION IS PAID BY URCW IS REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE THE URCW FOR THE COST OF REGISTRATION PLUS A PROCESSING FEE OF $10. NO EXCEPTIONS. No additional funding awards will be available until reimbursement is made. 
• Only current first author, UVU students with accepted abstracts are elligible to have their registration covered by the URCW. 
  • Those that are inelligible for registration coverage are: 
    • Any student co-authors.
    • Students that have graduated.
    • Non UVU presenters.
    • UVU students that are not presenters.
    • Faculty in any capacity, to include faculty mentors, authors and contributors.
  • Any inelligible individual that registers and charges the fee to the URCW will be removed from registration and potentially removed from the conference.
• In the case of a team submission, registration for the lead author will be covered by the URCW, should the lead author not plan on attending to present, they may designate an alternate that would be elligible in their place..  No late registration fee's will be covered so you must register or or before the deadline. No additional meals or activities will be covered by URCW. Any registrations that include extras will be denied resulting in the student paying for the full amount of the registration fee.
• Student travel expenses, including meals and incidentals will not be covered by URCW and will need to be paid for by the student and/or the students department funds. 
• Only one student per team may apply for an URSCA Dissemination Grant to help with travel expenses up to $750.  Funds will be available on a first come basis. As with the registration fee, any awardee that does not attend will need to reimburse and funds spent and return all unused funds. Funds cannot be given to another student to use.
• All NCUR student attendee's must register individually, this means each student planning to attend and present, regardless of whether they are part of a team or an individual presenter, will need to register to attend for all accepted abstracts.  This includes students that are self pay and not covered by the university. The URCW will cover the cost for only one member of a team to present.
• Students that are part of more than one team need only register once.
• When registering students that have been confirmed to have their registration covered by the URCW will need to select "Invoice my Institution" in order to have the cost covered by the URCW. Students that add additional expenses to the registration invoice will have their registration fee rejected and not paid and will be responsible for the full cost of registration. Any inelligible individual that registers and charges the fee to the URCW will be removed from registration and potentially removed from the conference.
• ** January 30, 2026, is the last day the "Invoice my Institution" option for payment will be available, after which payment will need to be made via credit card with no option for reimbursement from URCW.

• All faculty mentors are responsible for their own registration fees and travel expenses.

The National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR), www.cur.org, is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students to present their work.

This gathering of young scholars welcomes presenters from all institutions of higher learning and from all corners of the academic curriculum. Through this annual conference, NCUR creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate research student achievement; provides models of exemplary research, scholarship, and creative activity; and offers undergraduate research students valuable tools for career readiness development.

Student presentations are welcome in all fields and disciplines from the creative and performing arts to biomedical, engineering, and social science research. NCUR is a wonderful opportunity to network with peers and faculty from around the country working in similar research fields, learn about how research and scholarship is conducted in a variety of disciplines, to learn about graduate school and employment opportunities, and, of course, to develop presentation skills.
