Alcomy - Assisted Living Management Tool
In this week’s company highlight, we present Ilija Vrajich’s business, Alcomy, which is dedicated to helping smooth the administrative process of assisted living facilities.
When Ilija first started working in the assisted living industry in the 90’s, he began understanding the administrative process that goes on in the background. Throughout the years, he realized the importance of patients receiving their medical needs, the caregivers being able to focus and complete their daily tasks, and the managers staying up-to-date on what is going on in their facilities. The traditional stress and mess of paperwork remains to be an arduous process and even missing a step can set back the patient's care. However, with the advances in technology and information systems, Ilija saw an answer to the outdated solution of paperwork.
For the future of Alcomy, Ilija hopes to have this system implemented throughout the nation in all assisted living facilities. For him, every patient should have the best care they can receive as it will also have a positive effect on the families involved. In addition, the nature of Alcomy is ever changing as it adapts to the needs of the patient, caregivers, and the managers in this industry.
Being at the Business Resource Center has helped Ilija and his team centralize the remote nature of his business. He expressed that he and his team are able to gather in one place and Ilija can even meet one-on-one with people in his office space. Being around other entrepreneurs and businesses at the BRC has also helped him connect and learn about other businesses and what others have experienced through their entrepreneurial journey.
Word of advice for starting your own business:
Validate your idea, your product before you start building things [...] You learn how to actually go and see whether or not the idea you have is something that the industry is willing to purchase and to buy.
