VentureCon is UVU’s student business trade show, held every semester on campus. UVU students and alumni can apply for a booth to showcase their businesses, promote their business, conduct market research, and even make sales. This high-energy event is open to the public, offering a great opportunity to support student entrepreneurs.
At least one team member must be a current UVU student enrolled in a program of six months or longer (endorsement, diploma, associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree). All are welcome to attend the event..
Any student-led business is eligible, whether you're just getting started or already generating revenue.
Awards range from $250 to $2,500. Only current UVU degree-seeking students are eligible for funding. If you are an international student or receive FAFSA grants, your award may impact your status—please check with the UVU Finance Office for details.
Submit a written application. Meet with a mentor at the Entrepreneurship Institute after acceptance. Deliver a 4-minute pitch covering your business concept, model, and funding request, followed by a 3-minute Q&A with judges.
Judges evaluate applications based on the following: Clear understanding of the problem being solved Well-presented solution (concept-stage businesses are welcome) Strong knowledge of the market A reasonable revenue model and pathway to profitability A well-defined competitive advantage and value proposition
Yes! Schedule a mentoring appointment at the Entrepreneurship Institute.
Yes, you can apply to ZinnStarter each semester or year. However, priority will be given to students who have not previously participated before repeat applicants are considered.
