About John
John R. Curtis proudly represents Utah’s 3rd Congressional District in the United
States Congress. A district that includes Salt Lake, Utah, Emery, Carbon, San Juan,
Grand, and Wasatch Counties. He and his wife Sue have six children and seven grandchildren.
Throughout his career, John has distinguished himself in both business and public
service as a problem solver who can bring people together. As a partner and Chief
Operating Officer of Action Target, he rapidly expanded business operations. Under
his leadership, Action Target built some of the world’s largest shooting ranges, including
facilities for the FBI and United States Secret Service. John left Action Target
in 2010 to serve two terms as the 44th Mayor of Provo, winning the office on a platform of safety, prosperity, and unity.
As mayor, John averaged an approval rating of 93. He was re-elected for a second four-year
term in 2013 with 86.49% of the vote, making him one of the most popular mayors in
Provo's history.
Congressman Curtis is known for his personal approach to government and has been
named the #1 top Elected Official on Social Media by the Government Social Media Group
and recognized by Forbes for his commitment to citizen engagement. Since being elected
to Congress in November 2017, his bill has become law, he’s held over 100 town halls
and is reforming Congress one pair of crazy socks at a time.
