UVU students filled the podium this year at the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants (IARFC®) National Financial Plan Competition. As the defending champion, UVU again brought its best. Ethan Farar and Austin Kunzler won first place, with Josh Bell taking third place. The winning team will have their case study published in the Journal of Personal Finance, receive a cash prize, and receive RFA membership for 1 year.
The Personal Financial Planning program at the Woodbury School of Business is no stranger to success, having swept last year’s case competition as well as having won the national FPA planning competition and national AFCPE knowledge bowl competition. But the program’s success goes beyond winning competitions. Its curriculum is designed to produce Certified Financial Planner graduates, UVU has a 90% job placement after graduation, with a median salary starting at $63,000 a year.
Speaking of the competition, program director Luke Dean said: “when I see how hard these students prepare for mock clients, it makes me confident that they'll be amazing future professionals taking great care of real clients.” We couldn’t agree more.
