We like to provide opportunities for students to build their CVs and their practical experience outside of the classroom. Below you will find resources to become involved.

Other publication opportunities:

The UVU Art History Symposium is an annual academic event that brings together students, faculty, and community members to explore topics in art history and visual culture. Through student research presentations, guest lectures, and scholarly discussion, the symposium fosters a sense of community and provides a platform for emerging scholars to share their work and engage with diverse perspectives on art, history, and cultural heritage. Past symposiums have tackled topics such as display and consumption of art, visualizing identities, art and technology, myths and rituals, and art and the environment. The UVU Art History Symposium is the only undergraduate symposium for art history students in the state of Utah, and we encourage participation from students at any Utah institution. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts of their papers by December to be considered for inclusion in the February symposium.

The Art & Design Department offers a variety of travel experiences, both for-credit and not-for-credit.
Of particular note are summer study abroad programs, such as the Art History and Studio Art study abroad program to Italy, which introduces students to the history of art and architecture through visits to churches, museums, and other monuments while also creating their own art. Additionally, the department offers rotating study abroad experiences based on demand and opportunity. The Art & Design Fine Art Book series conducts a study abroad program every two years. Academic areas also have trips specific to their students and discipline.

We want all Art & Design students to succeed in every part of their academic careers at UVU. We have created a Microsoft Team for Art & Design students.
