BFA in Ballet

  • Applicable knowledge base in somatic practices that enhance performance and technique including, Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Advanced Movement Analysis, and Dance Conditioning.
  • Level 2 technical competency in Character Dance, Jazz, and Modern/Contemporary.
  • Ability to generate original movement material and create well-crafted and meaningful choreography.
  • Pre-professional or professional performance skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills specific to the field of dance.
  • Fluency in a variety of traditional and contemporary Ballet techniques and styles.
  • Level 4 Technical competency in Pointe or Allegro.
  • Advanced Level competency in applying concepts of music to Ballet and dance in general.

BS in Dance Education

  • Perform dance with artistry demonstrating an intermediate/advanced level technical competency.
  • Create choreographic works of artistic merit and personal voice demonstrating skills in choreographic elements, principles, and structures of dance.
  • Integrate diverse theoretical dance knowledge and skills in the writing, performance, and creation of dance.
  • Write articulately using dance language demonstrating perceptive, reflective, and analytical knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in writing and teaching of unit and lesson plans in the public schools.
  • Demonstrate proficient skills and knowledge necessary to create a vibrant and artistic secondary dance program based on state and national standards.

BS in Ballroom

  • Perform Ballroom Dance with artistry demonstrating advanced level technical competency.
  • Create choreographic works of artistic merit demonstrating skills in choreographic elements, principles, and structures of dance.
  • Write articulately, using dance language and demonstrating perceptive, reflective, and analytical knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in teaching Ballroom Dance.

BFA in Modern/Contemporary Dance

  • Perform dance with artistry demonstrating advanced level technical competency.
  • Create choreographic works of artistic merit and personal voice demonstrating skills in choreographic elements, principles, and structures of dance.
  • Integrate diverse theoretical dance knowledge and skills in the writing, performance, and creation of dance.
  • Write articulately using dance language demonstrating perceptive, reflective, and analytical knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in writing and teaching of modern dance lesson plans.

AS in Dance

  • Level 1 technical competency in Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, and Jazz Dance.
  • Level 1 competency in dance improvisation and composition
  • Level 2 performance in Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, and/or Ballroom Dance.
  • Beginning competency in Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Dance Conditioning.
  • Beginning Level competency in applying concepts of music to dance.
  • Written and oral communication skills specific to the field of dance.
