Program Details

This course will cover the social, cultural, and intellectual history of Renaissance Florence from 1300 to 1550. Dr. Hunt will lead students to historical sites in the city and foothills of Florence. Students will also participate on guided tours of Piazza del Duomo, Accademia Gallery, and Uffizi Gallery with access to Bargello Museum and Boboli Gardens. Learn how to cook in a traditional Italian kitchen! The program includes full-day excursions to Siena and Chianti.

Anticipated Curriculum

*Students are expected to take 

HIST 320R Issues and Topics in Global History (3 credits)
Prerequisites: HIST 3010 or instructor approval; University Advanced Standing. You can contact the faculty program director of this program listed below for approval.

 

Program Requirements*

Must be 18 years of age at the time of departure

Minimum G.P.A.: 2.0

Prerequisite Course(s): HIST 3010 or instructor approval

Physical requirements: There will be a lot of walking on uneven surfaces and climbing up stairs. Most of the sites in Florence and Tuscany will not have wheelchair accommodations.

Each international destination has its own Covid-19 rules and it is the travelers responsibility to find out what is required. UVU will not be responsible for covering the cost of hotel quarantine or Covid-19 testing in foreign destinations. Students may be required to test negative for COVID-19 at their own expense by host countries as a condition for entry.

Students should be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for possible COVID tests or quarantine stays if required by the host country for entry or exit.

All students are required to pay a $75 non-refundable application fee.
