Dear EverGREEN Partner,

As we embark on the remaining two years of the inaugural EverGREEN comprehensive fundraising campaign, we are pleased to share with you our progress to date. We also detail the work that remains before we exceed our goal of $350 million to transform Utah Valley University (UVU) for future generations. Our goals are bold, but achievable. Led by a single aim, we are poised to educate all who seek to learn, grow, and succeed in their personal and professional pursuits.

The EverGREEN annual report highlights the impact your gift has had on UVU students. We have much work to do in the upcoming two years and I invite you to learn more and explore ways to participate, not just financially, but also with your time and by sharing your expertise. EverGREEN is about UVU, it is about our community, but most importantly it is about transforming lives for the generations who will follow. What will be your impact?

Forever EverGREEN,

GUIDING UVU FORWARD

Last year we highlighted the ways UVU is EverGROWING as we entered the second phase of UVU’s inaugural fundraising campaign, EverGREEN. The university experienced remarkable growth, driven by the unwavering support and dedication of the UVU community. As part of the EverGREEN campaign, UVU celebrated various announcements of growth, including the doubling of UVU’s endowment, the construction and opening of new buildings, strengthened community partnerships, and more. UVU will continue to be EverGROWING, standing as a pillar of leadership as we prepare to enter the third phase of the campaign, EverGUIDING.

ENGINEERING THE FUTURE

UVU broke ground on the Scott M. Smith Building on September 21. This innovative space will enable more students to pursue degrees in engineering and technology fields. With 180,000 square-feet, the building will offer increased lab and office space, classrooms, and conference rooms that will align technical infrastructure with existing and emerging technologies as the number of students continues to grow.

Scott M. Smith shared, “We feel like we are investing in the future of generations of new engineers and computer scientists and wanted to do it in Utah County. Karen and I grew up here. Our children were raised here, and we started Qualtrics in our home in Provo. Utah County and Utah Valley University hold special places in our hearts.

As the number of students pursuing degrees in the Smith College of Engineering and Technology rapidly grows, UVU seeks to accommodate this growth and offer engaged learning experiences to UVU students. The Scott M. Smith building will provide an interactive environment to train a new generation of engineers and computer scientists, who are prepared to make immediate positive impact.

UVU ACHIEVES $100 MILLION ENDOWMENT

The 2023 UVU President’s Scholarship Ball marked a significant milestone in UVU’s history. In less than five years, UVU increased its endowment by more than 50%, to more than $100 million. The attainment of this goal, established by President Astrid S. Tuminez when she joined UVU in 2018, reflects the tremendous support from UVU faculty, staff, and students, and greater- UVU community.

Through continued investment income, UVU’s endowment offers support in perpetuity to the university, as well as providing UVU students with transformative opportunities that positively impact their educational, personal, and professional lives.

FROM VISION TO VICTORY

Hundreds of UVU soccer fans and community members joined with Wolverine student athletes and university leaders on April 9, 2024, to celebrate and break ground on the new UCCU Stadium that is set to feature a host of modern amenities aimed at enhancing the collegiate soccer experience.

This game-changing facility will include seating for up to 3,000 fans, team locker rooms, a team lounge for both programs, visiting team facilities, 400 additional chairback seats, covered plaza seating, 10 luxury suites, and an MLS-style press box with a broadcast booth, all promising an unmatched experience for players, fans, and the community.

The construction of UCCU Stadium is not just about building a new facility,” UVU Athletics Director Jared Sumsion said. “It's about acknowledging the accomplishments of our student-athletes and providing them with the resources they need to excel on the pitch, in the classroom, in the community, and in life.

The construction of the UCCU Soccer Stadium marks the beginning of a new era at Utah Valley University. The UVU Wolverines have built a legacy of achievement since moving to Division I status in 2003-04, and this state-of-the-art facility will elevate the UVU men's and women's soccer programs to new heights.

“I am very much for people wanting to better themselves, and you must start with education. Our family has supported UVU since World War II when it was a little technical college in Provo. In the beginning the buildings were small, with beams showing, and now UVU has grown to become the largest institution in the state of Utah. There’s no end to what you can do for people.”
