Karen Magaña-Aguado always wanted to pursue higher education. As the first person in her family to attend college, she benefited from campus resources and scholarships to help her dream come true. “UVU stood out to me because I loved the goals to make education accessible and give second chances,” she said. “I think that everyone deserves access to education.”
After getting her feet beneath her at UVU, Karen got involved in many university programs, ultimately being elected by her peers in 2021 as the Student Body President.
Throughout my entire life, my parents ingrained in me the importance of education.
It’s important to me that I pursue a degree because this is their accomplishment as
much as it is mine. I wouldn’t be where I am without their hard work and sacrifices.
