Eligibility
- Complete the FAFSA.
- Must be awarded federal work study for the year in which the student is wishing to
receive federal work study.
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at UVU.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits (for undergraduate) or 4.5 credits (for graduate).
- Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards
- Eligible to legally work in the United States.

2024-2025 Year
- Fall Only: July 1, 2024 - December 14, 2024
- Fall and Spring: July 1, 2024 - April 30, 2025
- Spring Only: January 6, 2025 - April 30, 2025

FWS Checklist
For Employers
- Post A Job
- Students Apply Work study jobs will be posted as an internal posting for those that are awarded work
study
- Interview & Hire Move all applicants appropriately in the workflow
- Applicants you wish to employ move to Recommend to Hire
- All other applicants move to Not Hired
- Background Check & Paperwork Background check will be sent to the candidate and new hire paper work will need
to be completed.
- Submit FWS Employer Information & Agreement Form Work study employees can begin working as early as July 1, 2024, if they are enrolled
half-time for Fall 2024. Complete and submit the Work Study Employer Information Form.
This must be done prior to the employee’s first day of work.
- Submit ePAF Work study employees can begin working as early as July 1, 2024, if they are enrolled
at least half-time for Fall 2024. The Work Study Employer Information Form and the
ePAF must be submitted to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office before the work
study employee begins working.
- Work Study Employees Begin Work study employees can begin working as early as July 1, 2024, if they are enrolled
at least half-time for Fall 2024.
Cancellation/Termination
The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office may terminate a work study employee for
the following reasons:
- If the student’s federal student aid eligibility changes
- If they drop below half-time, completely withdraw, or cease to be enrolled in an eligible
degree
- If they fail to enroll at least half-time each semester in which they wish to be employed
as a work study employee
- If they meet their work study award maximum for the year
A supervisor may terminate a work study employee for a breach of behavior, inadequate
performance, or any other seriously unsatisfactory situation. If a supervisor wishes
to terminate a student, he or she must present the reasons for dismissal to Human
Resources.

Award Amount
- Award amounts vary.
- Priority for FWS is given to students who have been awarded and have earned funding
from FWS in the prior Academic Year.
- If you do not earn the full amount of your award in the year, the unearned portion
is forfeit.
How it's Received
- You receive your FWS through compensation for the work you perform as a part-time
employee of UVU.
- The official pay dates are the 1st and the 16th of each month.
- All pay stubs are available online through myUVU.
- All employees are paid on a two-week lag pay cycle; meaning your first paycheck will
be approximately one month after you have started working.
FWS Checklist
For Students
- Accept FWS Award Once your FWS has been offered, you must accept it in your myUVU student account.
- Log in to myUVU
- Go to students
- Paying for my education
- Under the Financial Aid & Scholarships header, click on My Financial Aid
- Select the appropriate Award Year
- Award Offer
- Enroll At Least Half-Time Each Semester To be eligible for your FWS you must be enrolled at least half-time each semester
in which you wish to be employed as a work study employee.
- Apply For FWS Jobs Once you have accepted your FWS award, a list of available work study jobs will be
emailed to the email account you have designated as your preferred email in myUVU.
This email will be sent every Tuesday and Friday.
To apply, click on the link provided in the email for the position(s) for which you
would like to be considered, and complete the online application.
- Interview Departments will review applications, conduct interviews, and hire work study employees
in accordance with the UVU Human Resources policy and procedures.
- Accept A FWS Position After being interviewed, if you are offered a work study position by the department,
you can choose to accept or reject the position.
You must have a FWS position secured by the following deadlines:
- *Fall 2024: September 30, 2024
- *Spring 2025: February 28, 2025
*Deadlines may be changed due to additional awarding later in the year. If awarded,
please review your myUVU FWS Award email for your specific deadline.
Continued Eligibility
Once awarded, you must accept your FWS award and have a job by the following deadlines
each year:
- Fall: September 30, 2024
- Spring: February 28, 2025
In addition to accepting the award and getting a job by the deadline, you must:
- Complete a new FAFSA each award year.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester.
- Meet all other eligibility requirements.
