The first volume of Youth and the Mountain was published in the fall of 2013 in association
with the Utah International Mountain Forum (UIMF) and Utah Valley University faculty.

Mountain issues are of special importance to us at Utah Valley University as the Wasatch
Front is considered to be our backyard and the reason we consider the mountains to
be our home. Raising awareness of mountain issues and creating partnerships among
mountain communities has been at the heart of all Utah Valley University’s efforts
as a member of the Mountain Partnership. Currently, Youth and the Mountains are gearing
