Sometimes. We encourage you to seek substitutions if they will benefit your longer range goals for either graduate or professional school, employment, or if a required course is infrequently offered or being phased out. You can begin the substitution process by completing this form.

If you are out-of-state, you can schedule a phone  or video appointment. If you cannot meet during our standard times, please contact us for other options, we can sometimes schedule appointments outside of normal business hours.

If you are running late please email the person you are scheduled to meet with to let them know. However, if you will be more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, we might ask that you reschedule.

Please feel free to email, call, or stop by. However, we may inform you that an appointment is necessary to fully address your issue.

We meet with students throughout the calendar year. Please email or call us to set up an appointment. Appointments usually last 30-60 minutes. Please come prepared with your UVID number and any questions that you may have.

Walk-in hours are hours during which students can meet with the advisor on a first-come, first-served basis. They are usually held on Wednesdays, at the beginning and end of the term, and during priority registration. However, they are always subject to change, and we highly recommend contacting the Integrated Studies department to confirm walk-in hours before arriving.

Generally, yes, but we have a basic level of knowledge about the other degrees and programs at UVU and we will refer you to these other programs if Integrated Studies doesn’t seem to be a good fit for you.

Holds are placed on student records for a variety of reasons. Most of the time there is some action that must be taken for the hold to be removed. If you are a new student, you must meet with your advisor for the hold to be removed (this can be over the phone if you are out-of-state). If it is an academic hold, please see Academic Standards for more information; students are often required to complete a workshop for this type of hold to be removed.

ENGL 1010 and 2010 plus your general education math requirement must be completed before registering for IS 300R or IS 350R, as these courses are reading and writing intensive, and deal with complex issues and texts. IS 300R or IS 350R should be completed before registering for IS 4980, and IS 4980 must be completed before IS 4990.

Late adds are enrollments in a course after the wait list period ends (usually 6-7 days after the beginning of the term). If you would like to late add into a course, you must seek the permission of the faculty member teaching the course.
