The Russian Studies minor gives students a strong foundation in Russian language, culture, and global affairs while exploring the forces that shape one of the world’s most influential regions. Students examine Russia’s society, politics, history, and economy—from early civilizations to the present day—developing the knowledge needed to understand Russia’s role in contemporary international affairs.
Through interdisciplinary coursework, students gain insight into Russian culture and everyday life, major historical developments, and the country’s impact on global politics, security, and economic systems. After completing three semesters of Russian language, students gain significant flexibility in designing the remainder of the minor.
