Important Dates

Submit your online application in accordance with the application requirements by one of the following review deadlines:

Fall 2020 Deadline – July 25, 2020

International Applications for Spring 2021— OPEN until  September 1st

Domestic Applications Spring 2021 OPEN until October 1st or until filled

 *Applications for Fall 2021 open November 1, 2020. Application deadline is April 1, 2021, or until program is full.  (First Review of Applicants for Fall 2021 is February 1, 2021). Applications for Spring 2022 opens February 1, 2021. Application deadline is September 1, 2021 or until program is full. 

 

 

Pay the Application Fee

After you have registered within the application system and completed the application form, you will need to pay the application fee:
$45 USD for Utah residents and out-of-state residents

$145 USD for International students residing in the US or out-of-country (make  appointment  here before applying  )

Attach Applicable Supplemental Items

After you have submitted the application fee, the application system will ask you to attach various supplemental items. All applicants are required to provide the following items:

  • Official academic transcripts
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher based on a 4.0 scale
    alternatively, we will accept a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher based on the last 60 earned credits

More Transcript Information

For transcripts to be considered official, they must be submitted to UVU’s Admissions Office directly from a college or university to the following email address or to the following mailing address.  International transcripts must be evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluating company. UVU's preferred evaluating company is SpanTran.  See list of UVU approved  International Transcript companies.

No other delivery format will be accepted as official. Those that have a degree from UVU can have their transcripts uploaded to their application by MFPA Staff. Transcripts uploaded in this manner will also be considered official.

    pdf format with a minimum of 500 words per essay

Essay Prompts

1st Essay Prompt: Write a personal statement discussing your career goals and why you are interested in the Master of Financial Planning and Analytics degree.

2nd Essay Prompt: Describe what you think it will take to be successful in the MFPA program. What specific things could you do to receive the most benefit overall from the program?

For International Students

International Students

Additional information as you begin your application

International students who require a student visa (F-1) may apply for the Full-time MFPA program. This application includes requirements and fees in addition to those required for resident applications. All submitted documents must be original, except for copy of passport.

Visa Submission Deadlines: In order to ensure that visa paperwork is processed in time for students to begin the program, all required visa documents must be submitted by the following dates:

Program Application Deadlines: All required application documents must be submitted by April 1st.

Additional Application Requirements for International Students

  • English Proficiency – Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores. Required of applicants for whom English is a second language AND who earned a bachelor’s degree outside of the United States.

             Goal is to obtain a TOEFL score of 80 or above, or an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher. Official results should be sent to etranscriptr@uvu.edu.

  • Students may find the following resoruces useful in preparing for an English proficiency exam.
  • Affidavit of Support – Upload a signed Affidavit of Support that has been completed by person accepting financial responsibility. This includes showing an financial resources that will cover tuition, fees, and living expenses. If student will be self-sponsoring, they must provide a letter from their bank showing the required financial resource amount on deposit under the student's name. ALL FINANCIAL SUPPORT DOCUMENTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH AND SHOW AMOUNTS IN U.S. FUNDS.
    • Bank Statement– Provide document as requested on Affidavit of Support from student or sponsor.
    • Copy of Passport – Attach a copy of the passport for the student and any dependents who will also need an I-20.
    • Copy of Current Visa - when applicable a copy of the current visa for the student and any dependents.
    • Interview – An interview with members of the MFPA Admissions Committee may be required as part of the application review process. 
  • If you are a current student please fill out the Student Transfer Certificate and return to International Admissions.

Submit Online Application

Complete applications submitted before the relevant review deadline will be sent to the MFPA Admissions Committee for review. The committee selects qualified applicants to proceed to the next step in the application process based on the applicant’s potential for success in the MFPA program. This will entail a 20 to 30 minute in-person or Skype/Zoom interview with one MFPA Admissions Committee member and one MFPA Office staff member.
Each applicant will be notified by email whether you have been short-listed for an interview or will not be considered any further at this point in time.

Once you receive your invitation to interview from the MFPA Admissions Committee, confirm your interview time and location with the MFPA Office. If you are not able to come to our Orem campus for an in-person interview, you may elect to interview via Skype or Zoom. Please notify the MFPA Office of this election so proper arrangements can be made.

We recommend that you prepare for this interview as you would for a professional job interview. Be ready to provide more information about aspects of your application and demonstrate your understanding of UVU’s MFPA program. Successful candidates will also be able to speak to their background, aspirations, interests, and how the MFPA program fits their plans and life goals.

Final Decision

What to expect once you have completed your online application and your interview

Once all interviews have been conducted, the MFPA Admissions Committee will decide which candidates will receive an invitation to join the MFPA program. Each candidate will be notified of the committee’s final decision via email. If you have received an offer of acceptance, you will need to confirm your acceptance with the MFPA Office in order to hold your place in the program. This can be done by responding to the offer email or calling the MFPA office.
