Welcome to the Project Climbing Wall

The Project Climbing Wall is open to Utah Valley University students, staff, and faculty who have a membership to the Student Life and Wellness Center, as well as community members with a guest day pass. Climbs range from 5.5 – 5.12+.

  • Closed Wednesday, April 10th through Saturday, April 13th (Climbing Comp and Prep) 
  • Closed Thursday, April 18th from 7:00-10:00 pm (Women's Climbing Night)
  • Closed Wednesday, April 24 from 7:00- 9:00 pm (Private Event) 

Spring HOURS

Cost

Access to the climbing wall is FREE for students taking 10 or more credit hours and those with a paid gym membership.

For individuals without a SLWC gym membership:

  • SLWC Guest Day Pass: $8
  • Climbing Wall Fee: $5
  • 5 Visit Punch Pass: $25 or 10 Visit Punch Pass: $50
    Punch card sale is Final and non-refundable. This pass only grants access to The Project Climbing wall-harness rentals are free but shoes rental are $1. Only two punches can be used per visit. Access to the SLWC gym requires additional fees. The Project is not responsible for replacing stolen or lost card.

Group Rates

Group rates include the wall for 2 hours, harness and shoe rental, and a designated staff member.

Policies & Procedures

  • Climbing without supervision by climbing wall employees is prohibited.
  • Patrons must act in a respectable manner & observe these safety rules.
  • All climbers must have a signed waiver and check in with climbing staff prior to climbing.
  • Any patron 14 years or older planning to belay another climber must have passed belay check 1 & 2 by the climbing wall staff. (Individuals 13 years and under cannot belay.)
  • Any patron planning to lead climb and lead belay must schedule one day in advance to take the lead test and be passed off by the climbing wall staff.
  • Anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult and cannot be left unsupervised.
  • All participants below the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian read and sign the Agreement to Participate/Awareness of Risk form in addition to the participant's signature.
  • And adult must always accompany children younger than 16 years of age. Children under 13 years will be designated as "Climber Only" (not eligible to belay) and must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian.
  • Both the child and adult must pay for rental equipment as necessary.
  • Climbing wall staff will be present to monitor the safety of participants and ensure that all guess adhere to our policies and procedures, including not allowing minors to belay.

  • Footwear is required while climbing, no bare feet on the wall.
  • Patrons are allowed to use personal climbing equipment (climbing shoes, harness, and chalk bag) that is UIAA/CE approved.
  • Our rental harness cannot be used to lead climb.
  • Loose chalk is not permitted in the climbing area. Chalk balls only.

  • Climbers must tie into their harness using a figure-8 follow through.
  • Belayers & climbers must perform a safety check before getting on the wall.
  • Climbers should only climb as fast as their belayer can belay.
  • Never grab and hang from quickdraws or bolt hangers.
  • While on lead, climbers must clip all available quickdraw - no skipping draws.
  • If bouldering, the climber's shoulder cannot go above the second quick draws' hanger.
  • Climbers are encouraged to down-climb when bouldering.
