For students receiving Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Benefits, VA requires that all prior credits be evaluated and that all official transcripts from previous colleges or vocational schools be submitted to the UVU Admissions Office. Veterans and service members must also submit a military transcript (either Joint Services Transcript or Air University Transcript). You can receive credit for EXSC 1097 Fitness for Life and HLTH 1100 Personal Health and Wellness upon completion of Initial Active Duty for Training (IADT). Read below to find the transcript for your service branch. Transcripts sent to UVU as e-mail attachments or printed/opened by the student are not accepted.
Joint Services Transcripts (JST) will be subject to an initial evaluation in which any military course that has been deemed as a direct equivalent AND directly pertains to the student’s undergraduate degree will be awarded. Awarded credit cannot be removed once applied. All other completed military courses on the Joint Services Transcript that do not pertain to the student’s specific program of study will not be awarded.
JST transcripts can be requested online at https://jst.doded.mil/ free of charge. If you do not have a Common Access Card (CAC) or cannot sign in, you will need to register for an account. Once signed in, choose option 5 to request a transcript. Type Utah Valley University in the school search box and select UVU. Consent to e-delivery and then finish submitting the request. If you would like to request that earned, but presently unawarded, credits from your JST be applied to your degree, please contact your academic advisor and/or the Military-Affiliated Student Hub (MASH) (if on benefits) to ensure this will meet your education and financial goals and to make the request. The academic advisor must submit the request using the JST Additional Credit Form. Please note that by requesting that additional credits be applied toward your degree, it may limit your ability to maintain full-time status and/or full-time pay (if you are using VA education benefits).
Air University transcripts may be ordered at https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Registrar/Transcript-Requests/. They may be requested as electronic format or as a physical letter. Please request your Air University transcript as early as possible, as processing may take 30 to 60 business days or more to be delivered. If you are using VA benefits at UVU, please save a photo or screenshot of your transcript request or confirmation # and e-mail it to [email protected]. This will enable the Military-Affiliated Student Hub to expedite your enrollment certification.
