Wolverine Connections (SLSS 101R) is a 1-credit pre-semester course designed to help first-year students start strong at UVU. It’s your roadmap to academic, social, and personal success.

The course takes place on August 18–19, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Freshman Convocation will be held Monday evening, August 18th, from 5:00 p.m. with a dinner following.

Starting in the second week of the semester, you'll attend a 50-minute follow-up session each week for six weeks to stay connected, supported, and on track for success.

All first-year UVU students are encouraged to take Wolverine Connections. It’s especially helpful if you want a confident and connected start to your college experience.

By the end of Wolverine Connections, you’ll:

• Learn strategies for academic success, time management, and goal setting.
• Clarify your personal values and how they shape your college experience.
• Build relationships with peers, faculty, and staff.
• Gain an understanding of UVU’s traditions, mission, and student support services.

You’ll develop personalized academic goals and learn how to navigate college life. This course is designed to equip you with the tools, mindset, and connections to thrive from day one.

• Participate in workshops and activities focused on personal development.
• Explore campus resources and student support services.
• Build community with your peers in a supportive and engaging environment.
• Attend Freshman Convocation to mark your official welcome to UVU.

Yes. Because it’s a short, intensive course, full attendance on both days and the follow-up sessions is essential to gain the full benefit and earn the course credit.

You’ll reflect on your values, strengths, and goals—and learn strategies to manage your time and responsibilities in college.

Absolutely! You’ll connect with other first-year students and have the opportunity to build relationships that can last throughout your college journey.
