Imagine being paid to learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI) and earn college credit at the same time.
It is a reality at Utah Valley University (UVU).

UVU is partnering with Utah-based companies including  SchoolAI, and AskElephant to provide paid registered apprenticeships in applied AI to prepare students for the workforce and provide them with pathways to well-paying jobs.

  • Apprenticeships span 12 months and require the students to work full-time.
  • Apprenticeships differ from internships, which typically last three to four months and require fewer hours.
  • Students completing apprenticeships earn relevant industry certifications as well as certificates in business analysis from UVU's Woodbury School of Business, which can be stacked into associate degrees or bachelor’s degrees at UVU.
  • Registered apprenticeships are registered with the US Department of Labor and in coordination with Apprenticeship Utah.

The first cohort of apprentices began in August 2025. A new cohort is being prepared to start again in January 2026. If you are interested in applying for an apprenticeship position, please fill out this interest form  prior to October 15. Companies interested in starting an applied AI Apprenticeship please contact Scott Snow ([email protected]).

For more information on non-traditional registered apprenticeships at UVU, please contact Scott Snow.
