Accountability and Transparency

Utah Valley University is committed to transparency in how we collect, report, and share institutional data. As a public university and participant in federal financial aid programs, UVU submits data to several state and national reporting bodies each year. You'll find context for those reporting obligations and links to publicly available data here.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)

The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is the U.S. Department of Education's primary data collection program for postsecondary institutions. As a Title IV institution, UVU is required by the Higher Education Act of 1965 to submit annual data across the following areas:

Institution Characteristics — programs offered, tuition, and contact information
Admissions — applicant, admit, and enrollment counts
Enrollment — headcount by student level, gender, race/ethnicity, and attendance status
Student Financial Aid — aid type, average award amounts, and net price
Completions — degrees and certificates awarded by program and level
Retention & Graduation Rates — first-year retention and multi-year graduation rates
Outcome Measures — expanded graduation tracking beyond standard cohorts
Human Resources — faculty and staff counts by category
Finance — revenues, expenditures, and assets

All data UVU submits to IPEDS is publicly available through the NCES IPEDS Data Center. You can view UVU's institutional profile, download data, or compare UVU to peer institutions nationwide.

Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) is a standardized collection of institutional data developed collaboratively by higher education institutions and major publishers — including the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report — to improve the accuracy and consistency of information available to students and families. Each year, UVU completes the CDS to provide a comparable snapshot of the university across key areas such as enrollment, admissions, financial aid, graduation rates, and degrees awarded. Because all participating institutions follow the same definitions, the CDS is one of the most reliable tools for comparing colleges nationwide and is used by college guidebooks, ranking publications, and consumer search platforms to help prospective students make informed decisions.
