A $200 fee for pyrotechnics applies.
OUTDOOR PYROTECHNICS
Outdoor pyrotechnics (fireworks) are restricted to the baseball field.
There shall be a limit of two permits per year issued to each organization.
Pyrotechnics are restricted to commercial grade pyrotechnics.
Pyrotechnics are to be under the direct control of a licensed pyrotechnic operator.

A $200 fee for pyrotechnics applies.
HOT WORK
Hot Work is considered all temporary operations involving open flames or producing
heat and/or sparks, which includes, but is not limited to, grinding/cutting, brazing,
soldering; thawing frozen pipes by torch; and torch applied roofing and welding
Anyone performing any hot work operations in any Utah Valley University buildings
and/ or on any Utah Valley University properties is required to complete training
through the DFCM website and to obtain a hot work permit from a UVU Permit Authorizing
Individual.
All Hot Work Permits shall be issued by a UVU Permit Authorizing Individual and coordinated
through the office of the UVU Fire Marshal.

Flame Effects (ie burning of the UVU) are to be conducted by a licensed Flame Effects
operator.
Permit requests must be submitted 45 days prior to the event and include a $200 fee.
The use of Flame Effects is currently restricted to the UCCU Center, Smith Theater,
and approved outdoor locations.
TEMPORARY TENTS AND MEMBRANE STRUCTURES
Tents and or canopies in excess of 16 sq ft are not permitted to be used inside of
UVU buildings.
Tents and membrane structures in excess of 400 sq ft shall not be erected, operated,
or maintained for any purpose without first obtaining a permit and approval from the
Fire Marshal
Tents and membrane structures with an occupant load of 50 or more require a permit
from the Fire Marshal.
Tents or membrane structures and their appurtenances shall be adequately roped, braced,
and anchored to withstand the elements of weather and prevent against collapsing.
Documentation of structural stability shall be furnished to the fire code official
on request.
Open flame or other devices emitting flame, fire, or heat or any flammable or combustible
liquids, gas, charcoal or other cooking device or any other approved devices shall
not be permitted within 20 feet of the tent or membrane structure while open to the
public unless approved by the fire code official.
All inflatables shall be properly anchored as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
In addition, shall be inspected by a trained crowd manager prior to opening to the
public.
Tents and canopies attached to buildings, on upper plazas, or rooftops are considered
to be part of the building and must comply with the IBC.
