Meet our Honors Student Ambassadors:

The Honors Ambassadors is an established committee of UVU Honors students who, along with the Steering Committee, help govern the Program. As student representatives, they act as advocates to their fellow Honors students when problems and questions arise concerning the Program itself, or from their interaction with professors, Honors Program Coordinators, and other students. The Honors Ambassadors work directly with Honors Program Director and student information is kept confidential.

If students have any questions, concerns, or are interested in joining the Honors Ambassadors, we solicit applications each February.

Sonja Hugo

Sonja Hugo

Hello, my name is Sonja Hugo. This is my third year here loving life, learning and taking advantage of all the amazing opportunities Utah Valley University and the Honors Program holds. I’ve been able to travel and perform in California as an Irene Ryan Nominee for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, volunteer as a member of Utah Women in Film & Television, have an original script be workshopped and produced with UVU SAST, and so much more.

I am especially excited this year to be taking on the role of Student Resident Leader. Always feel free to reach out if you need anything; whether it’s to answer a question about the program, you need a cup of flour, or a shoulder to cry on after a breakup. I'm here for you.

Entering my Junior year in the BFA Theatre program, with an emphasis in Acting, I am delighted to be pursuing my passion. This means when I’m not in the classroom, or i guess now-the zoom call, you usually find me in late night rehearsal or memorizing lines. In my free time I love to create and surround myself with art, whether it be reading, doodling, freeform poetry on my typewriter, or, as per usual, devouring film.
