Study Spaces at the Fulton Library

Fulton Library entrance lit by sun beams from the setting sun.Looking for somewhere to buckle down and work on coursework this summer? The library has several spaces for you to study quietly or collaborate with groups. We’re open Mon–Fri 7am–9pm, Sat 9am–5pm, and Sun 1pm–9pm, so bring your homework, grab a snack, and set up next to a window to catch some summer sun.

Study Pods

Have you checked out the newest study spaces at the library? Unveiled last fall, our study pods are on the first and third floors. Equipped with outlets and whiteboards, these semi-private study pods are one of the best spots for individual study. And we totally wouldn’t blame you for pretending they’re Doctor Who TARDIS booths or entrances to the Ministry of Magic—anything goes when you need to liven up studying.

The study pods are slightly soundproofed, but don’t forget that sound still trickles in and out! When using a study pod, remember lower noise levels for other patrons.

Study Floors

If you need other spaces for solo study, head to floors three, four, or five, which are designated study floors. With tons of open tables, comfy chairs, and gorgeous mountain, lake, and valley views, floors three through five are the perfect spots to cozy up for a study session. We particularly recommend the fourth floor (the views from the ceiling-high windows are unmatched) and the comfy, hidden-away chairs to the west of the fifth-floor stacks.

If there are any issues with disruptive patrons, our librarians can help: just text them at 801-290-8123 and they can come give a quick shush.

Study Rooms

Searching for a focused flow-state? Try working in our study rooms, which are perfect for groupwork, presentations, or independent study. Reserve a room for up to four hours per day and up to six days in advance. If you need markers and erasers for the study room whiteboards, just ask at the Circulation Desks on the first and second floors. These rooms are also a great choice if you’re looking for a space to take an online test—just remember to bring a laptop.

Computer Labs & Laptop Checkout

Need a computer or printer? Stop by the first and second floors, which feature large computer labs where you can finish up your papers and projects. Don’t forget that you get a free $10 printing credit each semester, which you can use at the library with our color or black and white printers.

If you need to check out a laptop or hotspot for the semester, visit the first-floor Circulation Desk. Laptops and hotspots are now available for summer semester, and they’re on a first come, first served basis.

Lab assistants are available on both floors to troubleshoot tech issues, and librarians are happy to help answer your research questions at the first-floor research help desk. Check out our FAQs for answers to common questions about tech and library services.
