New Digital Services Offered This Fall Semester

Digital transformation employs technology to change culture, processes, and practices in ways that fundamentally change how institutions operate and provide value to those they serve.

Friends and Colleagues,

Fall semester is upon us — and with it, all of the excitement and anticipation typical for our campus and this time of the year. The pandemic adds an additional layer of trepidation. We understand that communication is more critical now than ever before. The Division of Digital Transformation (Dx) is actively working to make this year easier by providing new and updated tools.

Digital transformation employs technology to change culture, processes, and practices in ways that fundamentally change how institutions operate and provide value to those they serve. As we introduce new technologies, services, and products to UVU, be sure to follow our progress and check for regular updates on the Dx Transformations page!

This fall semester, we are proud to provide the following new services:

  1. New @uvu.edu email addresses for students, enabling them to take full advantage of Microsoft tools (including Teams, Outlook email, and Outlook calendar).
  2. Improved password reset tools and multi-factor authentication for students, boosting the security of their Microsoft tools and accounts.
  3. A new digital voice communication system through Microsoft Teams to replace the legacy phone system, allowing users to place calls from any supported device as if physically on campus.

In addition, Marketing and Communications has collaborated with Dx to provide the following enhancements this fall:

  1. New and improved faculty webpages, providing faculty a superior platform for showcasing their scholarship, research, and other work.
  2. Modernized design and navigation for the UVU website.
  3. An updated intranet (myUVU) for employees, streamlining their internal communications and access to information.

Finally, Dx plans to introduce the following improvements after the beginning of fall semester:

  1. A new student mobile app
  2. Personalized support through artificial intelligence and chatbots
  3. Improved MS Teams classroom integrations
  4. The ability for students and faculty to selectively add class schedules to Outlook calendars

We hope you find these new products and services useful and delightful. We hope you have a wonderful and fulfilling semester.

Best regards,

Dr. J. Kelly Flanagan
