Policy Stewards | Kat Brown |
Policy Actions | Revision |
President's Council Action | Entrance to Stage 2 |
Pipeline Draft | Policy 306 |
Who does this apply to? University leadership and personnel involved in hiring faculty
What is being revised in this policy? In its current version, Policy 306 does not set uniform expectations or procedures for faculty hiring practices across the University. A solid hiring policy will create a foundation on which schools, colleges, and departments can build to create a university-wide quality faculty. Additionally, a solid foundation will ensure equality and fairness in the hiring process when individuals from varying backgrounds apply to faculty positions within any department on campus. The changes will establish policy and procedures that reflect current practices, as well as promote best practices, as compared to institutions both within the state and nationally.

Who does this apply to? University employees and students involved university student groups
What is being revised in this policy? In response to concerns over UVU’s level of control over student clubs and competitive sports, General Counsel has advised Student Development and Well-Being to eliminate fiduciary oversight of clubs and competitive sports programs to reduce the University’s liability in working with student groups. To address the concerns listed above, the following revisions have been made to the policy:
- Add a definition for competitive sports and language related to competitive sports that is similar to how the policy addresses UVUSA, clubs, and student organizations
- Add fiduciary responsibility language to the sections on clubs and competitive sports
