Who does this apply to? Students and faculty and staff working with student clubs and competitive sports

What is in this policy? This new policy identifies and defines the purpose of communication channels used by the institution to communicate with students; establish foundations of best practices for one‐to‐many communications with students; and provide structure and framework to implement adaptable guidelines.

Policy 522 Undergraduate Credit and Transcripts

Who does this apply to? Employees and students

How was this policy revised? Revisions were made to this policy to align it with the recently updated Utah Board of Higher Education Policies R401 Approval of New Programs, Program Changes, Discontinued Program and R402 Certificate and Degree Award Structures, Program Reports. For example, the nomenclature for certificates changed, credit requirements for specific programs changed, and a new program category was instituted.

Now that this policy is in the Policy Manual, what does this mean for me?  If you need to understand the credit requirements for degrees and programs, you may want to familiarize yourself with this policy.


Policy 548 Academic Rights and Responsibilities of Healthcare and Counseling Clinical Program Students

Who does this apply to? Employees and students involved in clinical health programs

How was this policy revised? Updates to this policy addressed a practical need for a backup appeals decision-maker for clinical program directors who participate in an initial decision to impose an academic sanction and simplified what was an overly exhaustive appeals rights for students receiving the academic sanction of probation.

Now that this policy is in the Policy Manual, what does this mean for me?  If you are a university employee or student involved in a UVU clinical health program, you may wish to learn about the limited scope revisions made to this policy.


Policy 606 Adoption of Course Materials and Textbooks

How was this policy revised? This policy was updated to create a process for calculating and verifying royalties attributable to UVU students; clarify when instructors cannot profit on self-authored textbook sales; narrow the scope of the prohibition on “direct sales” of course materials to only include self-dealing scenarios; allow referrals to third-party vendors when in the best interest of students; and clarify where to designate royalties or compensation.

Now that this policy is in the Policy Manual, what does this mean for me?  If you are a faculty member who has authored course materials and textbooks, you may wish to become familiar with the updates made to this policy.

How was this policy revised? Revisions to this policy clarified certain statements, updated office names, and removed inaccurate information. This policy aligns with the U.S. Department of Education requirements.

How was this policy revised? This policy was updated to provide clear requirements and review criteria for sabbatical requests.
