On March 26, 2026, UVU's President’s Council approved the following policy actions:

Compliance  Changes

Policy 306 Recruitment, Selection, and Hiring of Faculty Positions

Policy 309 Executive Employees: Recruitment, Compensation, Termination

Approval Process: Compliance

Policy Sponsor: Marilyn Meyer

What does this policy revision address? The Utah Veterans Preference for Career Services Act requires public employers to provide hiring preference for qualified veterans. UVU currently follows this requirement operationally through hiring procedures and guidance. However, UVU’s hiring policies do not currently reference this statutory requirement. The revisions will add the following language to these three policies: "The University complies with the Utah Veterans Preference for Career Services Act. For more information, contact the People and Culture office."

Now that this policy is in the Policy Manual, what does this mean for me? If you have questions about these compliance changes, contact the policy steward.  The Board of Trustees will ratify this policy at their next meeting on June 15.
