SMP

Students may serve in the Utah Army National Guard while enrolled and contracted with ROTC through the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP).

What is the SMP?

SMP allows cadets to drill with a Guard or Reserve unit while training to become officers through ROTC. Cadets will contract with ROTC and be attached to a National Guard unit of their choice.

SMP Pathways

SMP with Basic Training (prior enlisted or BCT/AIT completed)

  • Enlistee attends basic training and contracts with ROTC upon returning
  • 2-, 3-year program options

SMP without Basic Training (No Basic training or Basic Camp required)

  • Completion of the basic and Advanced ROTC course is required
  • 4-year program

Non-Scholarship SMP (can commission into any Army component)

GRFD SMP (guaranteed Guard or Reserve Only service after commissioning)
