Program Description

The Professional Elementary Teacher Education Program at Utah Valley University prepares candidates to teach grades K–8. Graduates who complete program and licensure requirements earn a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and are recommended for an Utah Professional Teaching License.

To remain in the program, students must meet all standards, including maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, earning at least a B- in coursework, and demonstrating competence in fieldwork and student teaching. Candidates are also expected to uphold professional standards of integrity, responsibility, and citizenship. UVU’s teacher education program is accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).

Completion of prerequisite general education and education courses.

Minimum GPA: 2.7

Program Format

Total Credits: 120

Delivery: Take classes in person, online, or both!

Classroom Experience: Gain hands-on experience through 45-hour elementary classroom placements.
