Learn more about SOE Elementary Ed
The Department of Elementary Education at UVU prepares skilled and compassionate educators through its Bachelor of Science program, which combines foundational coursework, field experiences, and licensure preparation for teaching grades K–8. The department also offers an associate degree in early childhood education, preparing individuals for early childhood teaching and leadership roles, while providing a pathway into the elementary education program.

The Professional Elementary Teacher Education Program is designed to prepare quality, entry level candidates for teaching in elementary education grades K–6. Students who complete the UVU professional teacher education program and licensure requirements graduate with a baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education and are recommended for a Utah Professional Teaching License.
Individuals who earn an associate degree in early childhood education are prepared to teach preschool in private and corporate centers, Head Start, and public education tuition preschools, or work as center directors. The associate degree in early childhood can be planned to fill most of the requirements for entry into the Elementary Education Program.
Graduates of this associate program are prepared for roles teaching preschool in public and private centers, Head Start programs, and tuition-based schools. Students also develop leadership skills that can lead to opportunities as childcare center directors.
Gain hands-on classroom experience through early field placements, student teaching, and real-world lesson planning.
Seamlessly progress from initial licensure to advanced endorsements, bachelor’s, or master’s degrees.
Learn from experienced educators and school leaders dedicated to mentoring the next generation of teachers.
