Attending class and navigating higher education can already be difficult, and pregnancy can often make it even harder. If you have pregnancy symptoms that interfere with your learning, the Accessibility Services (AS) can help you. OAS will work with you to determine what accommodations you need during your pregnancy to succeed at UVU.
Children of enrolled students are not allowed in UVU classrooms or laboratories unless given faculty permission in extenuating circumstances. Students who bring their children into university classrooms or labs may be asked to leave or subject to discipline through Student Rights and Accountability.
Enrolled students may bring children to public common areas on campus and are responsible for the safety and behavior of the children at all times. Children must be supervised at all times. If an unattended child comes to the attention of university staff or students, UVU Police may be contacted.
Pregnancy-related accommodations are also available to all full-time UVU employees. Those requesting accommodations should reach out to People and Culture at 801-863-8207 or submit a request to [email protected].
All full-time exempt and non-exempt employees are entitled to paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child. All new parents may use up to ten days of paid parental leave within six months of adopting or giving birth. The person giving birth may also take up to six consecutive weeks of paid medical maternity leave. Both parental leave and medical maternity leave may qualify as FMLA leave for eligible employees.
Giving birth or adopting is classified as a qualifying life status change that allows full-time employees to change their health insurance benefits outside of the open enrollment period. Employees must request changes to their enrollment within 31 days.
