Junior, Majoring in Digital Marketing
Instagram: @kennedy.rae, TikTok: @kennedy.rae, LinkedIn: Kennedy Johnson
Email: [email protected]
I’m a junior at UVU majoring in Digital Marketing, and when I’m not in class, you’ll probably find me snowboarding or hanging out on campus. I’ve previously served as a captain on the UVU Gameday Team, where I helped lead our team to a fourth consecutive national title, an experience that taught me a lot about leadership, teamwork, and showing up for something bigger than yourself. I am currently serving as the assistant to the VP of Activities for UVUSA, where I have been able to learn more about how events are run on our campus, as well as advocating for the overall student body. I truly bleed green and love UVU. This campus has given me so much, and I’m excited about creating events and traditions that make students feel connected and proud to be Wolverines. You bring the KENERGY vote for KENNEDY!
Proven UVUSA Experience I’ve already served within UVUSA as the Assistant to the Vice President of Activities, giving me firsthand experience in how events are planned, funded, and executed, so I can step into this role ready to lead on day one.
Leader of People, Not Just Events I’ve managed and motivated teams of volunteers, creating energy, accountability, and a positive culture that turns ideas into successful, high-impact events.
Deeply Connected to Campus Life I’m highly involved across campus and understand what actually excites UVU students, allowing me to plan activities that are inclusive, engaging, and worth showing up for.
Marketing That Gets Students There With a background in marketing and event promotion, I know how to build interest, communicate clearly, and get students from “Oh, I saw it on Instagram” to actually attending.
Action-Oriented Event Experience I have firsthand knowledge supporting large-scale events from start to finish, ensuring activities are organized, impactful, and centered around student experience.
Build Lasting Campus Traditions I will establish and strengthen signature UVU traditions like the lighting of the UVU, Wolverine Bingo, and Emerald Ball, that students look forward to every year. Creating shared experiences that build pride, connection, and school spirit beyond just one-off events.
Make Events Worth the Commute I will design events that are intentional, high-energy, and student-driven, ensuring activities are exciting enough to justify staying on campus longer and coming back specifically to be part of them.
Increase Student Involvement on a Commuter Campus I will create more accessible, flexible, and inclusive opportunities for involvement so commuter students feel connected, welcomed, and represented, even if they’re only on campus for part of the day.
Listen First, Then Act I will advocate for all student voices by actively gathering feedback and using it to shape programming that reflects real student needs, interests, and concerns.
Elevate Event Visibility and Engagement I will strengthen how UVUSA promotes events through clear communication and strategic marketing, making sure students not only know what’s happening, but feel excited to attend.

Vice President of Academics Candidate
Junior, Majoring in Exercise Science
Instagram: @alfymedrano
Email: [email protected]
Hi Wolverines! My name is Alfredo Medrano, and I am running for Vice President of Academics. I am a junior studying Exercise Science. As I spent the last two years of my life at UVU, I have grown a strong admiration for the university and its academic missions. I am a firm believer in education being accessible and enjoyable to everybody. As Vice President of Academics, my mission is to further solidify UVU's mission of affordable and high-quality education, ensuring students have the resources and opportunities necessary to achieve the most success with their time at UVU, while taking student input into account to make sure students know that they are heard and seen. I spend a lot of my time on UVU's campus going to class, studying, doing research, and supporting the student body as a UVU student ambassador. Outside of UVU, I like to spend my time with my friends and family doing activities like golfing or bowling, lifting weights, coaching my soccer team, going to the movies on $5 dollar Tuesdays, and spontaneous Texas Roadhouse trips.
Leadership: I have been in a student leadership position for as long as I can remember. To me, being in these positions has always meant putting the student body's needs and ideas before anything else. Over the past year and a half, I have had the honor of representing UVU as a student ambassador, where my work has focused on helping students set up for a strong and successful college experience. I believe that the student body deserves someone who will listen to their voices and show change in classrooms and academic resources to make sure that not only the transition into college is smooth, but their full higher education experience is as well.
Passion for Education and Student Success: For me, education has always been one of the biggest keys to becoming the best version of myself. It has opened more doors for me than anything else ever has. I firmly believe in giving this opportunity to everyone at UVU. Expanding opportunities such as research and internships, help with different learning experiences, and help grow student success in spaces outside of the classroom.
Volunteering and Community: Giving back to the community is something I am very passionate about. Whether I am in my role as an English tutor or in my role as a soccer coach, I always give my full effort and attention to the tasks I have at hand. I believe that dedicating time and effort to the community around me makes everyone more successful. With these values, as Vice President of Academics, the mission to make sure that the student community at UVU is being heard and supported will be worked for with full effort and determination.
UVU Pride: Being a part of UVU and being able to represent this university is something I am very proud of. The values of this university are to welcome people with our slogan, "Come as You Are", demonstrating that anyone, no matter their background or past experiences or challenges, is welcome at Utah Valley. I strongly believe in UVU's mission to provide affordable, high-quality education to everyone, and I would be honored to serve in a larger role supporting that mission as Vice President of Academics.
Increase Student Opportunities: An increase in student opportunities helps students gain new learnings and ideas from these experiences. The goal would be to work with several university organizations and community businesses to help increase the amount of research, volunteering, and internship opportunities for UVU students, to help set up students as well as possible for their post-graduate goals.
Increase Scholarship Awareness: Paying for your education can be a stressful task, but there are several ways to work around it. One of my goals as Vice President of Academics would be to increase awareness of scholarship opportunities for UVU students, with a focus on departmental scholarships that tend to go unclaimed. This will help students pay for their education and be able to focus more on their academics and day-to-day lives during the school semester.
Increase Academic Resource Awareness: There are several academic resources at UVU. Increasing awareness and quantity of programs like supplemental instructions, TA reviews, and tutor labs will help students become the best academic version of themselves.
Amplify Student Voice: Students are the ones in UVU's classrooms and the ones using UVU's academic resources. They have the most important voices. Amplification of the student body voice on these topics is a goal I will target using monthly student surveys to determine what areas we need to target and find solutions for. This will help to ensure that the student's academic experience is of the best quality possible.

Hi! My name is Avabelle Ross, and I’m originally from Prosper, Texas. I’ve lived in Utah for the past three years, and I’m running to be your VP of Academics! I absolutely love UVU and have proudly served this past year as the Senator for the College of Health and Public Service. Outside of school, you’ll usually find me working out, painting, spending time with friends (when I can), and staying locked in on my goals. I plan to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician, so academics and student success are extremely personal matters to me. I’m passionate about transparency, authenticity, and advocacy when it comes to your academic experience. I believe in making a respectful environment that values diversity of thought, collaboration, and honest dialogue. If my friends had to describe me in one word, it would be disciplined, and yes, I actually asked them. As your hopeful VP of Academics, my goal is to elevate the academic experience at UVU. I will advocate for students at the highest levels of administration, closely examine how academic systems support, or hinder, student success, and actively apply your feedback to drive real improvements. I love building relationships and meeting students, and I want to be a safe, approachable voice where concerns can be heard and acted on. My mission is to bridge the gap between students and administration and ensure your voices matter. I am focused, steady, and results driven and I’m not afraid to push back when it’s necessary. Ava The Stallion for Academics.

Vice President of Academics Candidate
Junior, Majoring in Public Relations & Strategic Communication
Instagram: @brynlee.sage
Email: [email protected]
Hello! I’m running for Vice President of Academics because classes should challenge students, navigating the system shouldn’t. At Utah Valley University, so many students are balancing classes, jobs, families, and real life, and academics should support that reality, not work against it. I want academic systems to feel clearer, more flexible, and easier to navigate for real students. As a transfer student, I’ve lived the confusion that comes with moving between schools, advisors, and degree requirements. I’ve also explored multiple majors, which required learning new expectations, pathways, and advising styles each time. These experiences strengthened my adaptability and gave me a firsthand understanding of how confusing academic systems can slow students down or create uncertainty. Like many UVU students, I balance school with leadership involvement, campus engagement, and responsibilities outside the classroom. Being involved across different campus spaces has shown me that students from all backgrounds share many of the same academic frustrations. Advising can feel inconsistent. Scheduling can be stressful. Important information isn’t always easy to find. Instead of brushing that off as “just how college is,” I wanted to be part of the solution. My major now is in Public Relations and Strategic Communication with a minor in Writing Studies, and that background shapes how I approach leadership. I care deeply about clarity, follow-through, and making sure information actually reaches the people it’s meant for. In academic spaces especially, communication matters. When messaging is confusing or incomplete, students are the ones who feel it most. Listening first and explaining things clearly are values I bring into everything I do. If elected Vice President of Academics, my biggest priority is improving academic advising clarity and accountability. Students should be able to understand their degree requirements, course sequencing, and graduation timelines without jumping through hoops or getting mixed messages. Advising should feel supportive, consistent, and reliable. I’m also focused on supporting transfer, working, and non-traditional students through flexibility and transparency. Many students at UVU are balancing more than just school, and academic policies should reflect that reality. Flexibility and clear expectations help students stay motivated and on track. Another priority for me is improving transfer and credit evaluation processes so students aren’t delayed by unclear requirements. I also care deeply about course scheduling and availability, especially when required courses or bottlenecks push graduation further away. I’m running to be an approachable, reliable advocate in academic spaces. This role is about showing up, listening, and helping build systems that actually work for students. I care about fairness, clarity, and access, and I’m committed to making the academic experience at UVU more supportive for the campus community.

Vice President of Academics Candidate
Junior, Majoring in Civil Engineering
Instagram: @probablytimo_uvu
Email: [email protected]
I am a civil engineering student at Utah Valley University and a candidate for Vice President of Academics. My academic and professional work centers on how institutions make decisions that shape student experience, access, and long-term outcomes. I am running because I believe academic policy should be transparent, accountable, and meaningfully informed by the voices of students. My experience at UVU has consistently involved bridging student concerns with administrative and institutional processes. Through service on campus committees focused on sustainability and active transportation, I have worked within shared governance structures to improve safety, access, and quality of life for students, faculty, and staff. These roles strengthened my ability to translate student priorities into actionable policy discussions while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach. Outside the university, I serve as co-director of Bike Orem, a local nonprofit focused on advocacy, policy improvement, and community engagement. In this role, I manage organizational finances, coordinate volunteers, and work directly with local and state stakeholders to advance infrastructure and safety initiatives. This experience has required balancing diverse perspectives, communicating clearly with decision-makers, and ensuring that community voices are represented in technical and legislative processes. I have also engaged with higher education–related legislative issues in Utah, advocating for policies that affect students and institutional accountability. As Vice President of Academics, my priorities would focus on strengthening student representation in academic decision-making, improving transparency around the use of student fees, and addressing persistent systems issues that affect students’ ability to navigate their education. I am particularly interested in improving how academic resources are allocated and how student feedback is incorporated into institutional planning. I also want to ensure that students have a clearer, more effective voice in external policy discussions that directly impact the university. My final year at UVU is intentionally structured to allow for deep, sustained involvement in student leadership. I approach this role with a commitment to careful listening, clear communication, and principled advocacy, and I would be honored to serve students by helping build an academic environment that reflects their needs, goals, and lived experiences.

Vice President of Connection Candidate
Senior, Majoring in Biology with a Minor in French

Email: [email protected]
Hi! I’m Carter Olson, and I’m running for Vice President of Connections! I am currently working towards a biology major with a French minor in hopes of going to Medical School. I have been attending UVU for the past 3 years now and have loved every second of it! I love music, I love to learn languages, and I LOVE to travel. I love to make friends and talk A LOT! As you can see, I love a lot of things and one thing I especially love that is very important to me is the environment that UVU has fostered since I have been here and hope to be able to contribute more to it. I believe that college is better, and honestly easier, when you feel connected. Connection to people, to campus life, to resources, and to a voice that actually matters! In my opinion, you shouldn’t have to already know people at UVU to feel like you belong here. My goals are to continue to help students build connections and build a sense of pride to be a Wolverine! Through connections with people, the campus, resources, and your voice, I truly believe that we can make UVU feel a little smaller, a lot friendlier, and way more connected. As someone who wasn’t involved and didn’t feel very connected to the school when I started taking classes here 3 years ago, I know first-hand the difference that it makes to put in the effort and feel more connected to UVU. I personally want to help students in that same situation that I was in to help better their college experience. College shouldn’t just be where we get our education, it should be a place where we enjoy going and hopefully a place where you can make lasting memories. I take friend-making very seriously and promise to fulfill the duties if elected to Vice President of Connection!
I have leadership experience leading large groups of students having been my classes senior class president and currently the Vice President of the Pre Medical Association at UVU.
I work well with others and have a lot of patience being a health care professional. I have been an EMT for the last 2 years and constantly work with new people and patients.
I have experience working in teams as I have had a job since I was 15 and have worked on several different committees and research teams here at UVU.
I want to have more service oriented events next year to connect students with their community as well as to the other students on campus.
Something that is VERY important to me is that students know that they have a safe space with me and I want to be very open about my office hours especially for students that aren't in UVUSA. I want to table more as VPs not just the President.
I want UVUSA as a whole to do more as a council instead of individually by branch. Plan and execute activities and events as a whole council. I know that the branches are there for a reason and are necessary for the structure and function of student government, but I would like to see more camaraderie as UVUSA to help us achieve even more and reach out to more students at large.
I want to meet as many new students as possible, so I goal that I would have is being out in the hallways more instead of in the offices. The one on one interactions with students can be and most of the time are the more influential and beneficial interactions to help students have a better college experience and the help them feel like they belong here at UVU.
Another goal that I have is that I want students to be more connected with their administration and professors. Maybe having some events that have to do more with the professors here where students can get to know and connect more with their superiors would help foster more of a sense of belonging!

Vice President of Connection Candidate
Junior, Majoring in Forensic Science with a Minor in Constitutional Studies
Instagram: @daniela4connections, TikTok: @daniela4connections
Email: [email protected]
Hi! My name is Daniela Aldama, and I am running for Vice President of Connection. I am a first-generation college student, and my experience navigating college without a clear roadmap has shaped how I view involvement, leadership, and belonging. From early on, I learned that feeling connected to your campus can completely change your college experience. My first real experience getting involved at UVU came during my freshman year, when I volunteered with UVUSA’s Green Team. I remember seeing the application posted on the UVU Instagram account and thinking it sounded like a great opportunity and a chance to meet new people. We had our first meeting before the school year even started, where we learned what it meant to be part of the Green Team and spent time getting to know each other. From that very first meeting, I felt connected. I walked away with a group of people I felt comfortable with, supported by, and excited to see again. The Green Team truly became the highlight of my freshman year. It gave me insight into how to get involved on campus, helped me build meaningful friendships, and made me feel like I belonged at UVU. It also showed me that I could contribute to something bigger than myself. After that experience, I started seeking out every involvement opportunity I could find. I quickly realized that the more I participated in campus activities, attended events, and worked alongside other students, the more connected I felt to UVU. Over time, that connection grew, and now I genuinely consider UVU my second home. When I am not at work or spending time with friends, I am usually in class or involved in something happening on campus. I truly believe that one of the keys to succeeding in college is feeling connected to your community, your peers, and your campus. That sense of belonging can completely change a student’s experience. That belief is what drives my desire to serve as Vice President of Connection. I care deeply about making involvement visible, accessible, and welcoming, especially for students who do not know where to start or who feel unsure about where they belong. As Vice President of Connection, I want to do everything I can to help as many students as possible feel that same sense of connection, belonging, and pride in being part of UVU.
Work with other UVU Organizations - There are so many great organizations at UVU that provide resources, host events, and offer mentorship to students. I want to intentionally connect with these organizations and help bridge communication gaps so UVUSA can collaborate with them and make students more aware of the resources already available to them.
Focus on Small-Group Integration at Large Events - I have heard from many students that they want to attend UVUSA events, but it can feel intimidating, especially for transfer students, first-generation students, and freshmen who are new to campus. I want to focus on creating ways for students to meet others and build connections so they feel encouraged to attend activities together.
Mentorship, Networking, and Connecting - I believe it is important to provide mentorship to incoming students as they navigate student life and figure out where they belong. I want to create a recurring, more mellow third-space style event where students can hang out, do crafts, and meet new people. Some of these events would include student leaders from across campus, so students can ask questions and learn about involvement opportunities in a relaxed setting.

Student Body President Candidate
Junior, Majoring in Healthcare Administration with a Minor in Business Management
Instagram: @alexdstewart
Email: [email protected]
Hey Wolverines! My name is Alex Stewart and I am running for Student Body President! Over the past 2 years, I have served on UVUSA as an Events Chair, and currently as Vice President of Student Activities. These experiences have changed my perspective on what makes a college experience worthwhile. I understand the importance of student leaders being ALL IN for YOU! My campaign “All in for Alex” is representative of my commitment to providing the student body a memorable college experience full of commitment, spirit, and dedication. If elected, I am committed to cultivating environments where students can succeed academically, thrive in campus life, and build meaningful relationships both in and out of the classroom. Through greater transparency with student fees, impactful campus life initiatives, and stronger collaboration with faculty and administration, I believe every student at UVU deserves an exceptional college experience. UVU’s student body is diverse, including students at satellite campuses, online learners, and non-traditional students. UVUSA has a responsibility to advocate for all of them, and it is my mission to ensure every student feels seen, supported, and represented. My campaign is centered around five key goals that reflect this commitment: 1. Student Voice in Decision Making: I will ensure student voices are actively heard and represented in all UVUSA decisions. Through expanded feedback initiatives, I will advocate for students across all campuses, including online and nontraditional students. 2. Student Experience Beyond the Classroom: I will invest in events and spaces that enrich campus life beyond academics. By strengthening school spirit and unity, we can make the UVU experience meaningful, engaging, and memorable. 3. Student Fees Transparency & Accountability: I will prioritize transparency and accountability by clearly communicating how student fees are used and why. Because these funds come from students, our initiatives must consistently reflect student priorities. 4. Access & Inclusion: I am committed to creating an inclusive campus where every student feels seen, valued, and connected. Regardless of how or where students attend UVU, they deserve an enriching and accessible college experience. 5. Campus Collaboration & Support: I will strengthen collaboration between UVUSA, student organizations, faculty, and administration to ensure all groups feel supported and represented. Through intentional collaboration, we can create the best possible college experience for every student at UVU. My fellow Wolverines, I am committed to lead and advocate for you. I ask for you to vote “All in for Alex” because I am dedicated to providing what every student deserves, a meaningful college experience. I am ready to be ALL IN for YOU!
My first qualification for this position relates to my experience. I have served in UVUSA for 2 years now. Currently serving as the Vice President of Student Activities, I have learned the importance of having experience when entering leadership roles. I am well versed and knowledgeable with how student government works and what we are capable of accomplishing. If elected, I will be able to hit the ground running by developing initiatives and advocating for the student body.
The second qualification I have is my budget and resource management skills. As the VP of Activities, I oversaw a six-figure budget funded by student fees. This budget was used to provide students with events and activities to enrich their college experience. A huge priority of mine was ensuring that the student fees we used were justified and used in a way that benefitted the student body. If elected, I want to help students understand what their student fees are being used for, and increase overall transparency with how their money is being spent.
My third qualification is my experience in event and project management. As Vice President of Activities, I was trusted to oversee large scale campus events and initiatives. I also developed the “Campus Life Initiative” to better understand student’s awareness of how their student fees are used. Moving forward, my focus is on creating initiatives driven directly by student feedback to ensure resources are used in ways that best serve the student body.
My fourth qualification is strong visibility and engagement on campus. I understand the importance of supporting organizations beyond UVUSA, including athletics, clubs, and other student driven groups. UVUSA plays a critical role in advocating for and collaborating with these communities, and I am committed to showing up, building relationships, and strengthening collaboration across campus. Moving forward, I plan to continue actively engaging with student organizations to better support their goals and initiatives.
Student Voice in Decision Making: If elected, I will prioritize student voice in all UVUSA decisions. Advocacy for the student body is at the core of UVUSA’s mission, and that requires actively listening to students across campus. I am committed to expanding campus wide initiatives, feedback collection, and surveys to ensure student needs are understood and addressed. This includes reaching students at satellite campuses, online learners, and diverse student populations, including non-traditional students, so every voice at UVU is represented.
Student Experience Beyond the Classroom: If elected, I am committed to creating events and spaces that enrich the student experience beyond academics. While the classroom is essential, a strong campus life is just as important. Drawing on my experience in activities, I will work with organizations across campus to increase awareness, strengthen school spirit, and build a greater sense of unity that makes the UVU experience meaningful and memorable.
Campus Collaboration & Support: If elected, I will work to strengthen collaboration between UVUSA and organizations across campus. UVU’s diverse student body brings a wide range of ideas and communities that deserve representation and support. By working closely with student organizations, faculty, and upper administration, I am committed to ensuring every group feels supported by UVUSA and that students receive the best possible college experience.

I’m Cooper Despain, and I’m running to be your Student Body President because I believe every student here should feel pride in this University and have the opportunity to succeed academically and professionally. As a transfer student, I know exactly what it’s like to navigate a new campus. I’ve done it three times! You are searching for a sense of belonging and wondering if you’re in the right place. I spent years at two other universities feeling like just a number. When I transferred to UVU from our neighbor in Provo, things changed. I found my people, my passion, and my purpose. I’m running for President because I found my home here, and I want to ensure every student has that same opportunity to succeed academically and professionally. I truly believe that I am the number one choice for this role and my background prepares me to turn this vision into reality. As a BFA candidate in Photography, I see UVU through a unique lens. There is so much untapped potential in connecting our arts, our athletics, and our student life to create a cohesive campus culture. But vision requires action. This past year, serving as a UVUSA Activities Chair, I’ve seen the pulse of this campus firsthand. I know where we thrive and, more importantly, where the system fails. My experience in student leadership gives me a head start on knowing how to effect real change the moment I take office. Combined with my background as an entrepreneur, I bring a level of fiscal accountability and professional discipline to everything I do. I will ensure your student fees are treated as an investment in your future, not just a line item. UVU is my home, my favorite place, I want to help make it yours too!

I want to make the largest university in the state feel small by connecting students to better assessable micro-communities so they aren't just faces in the crowd.
I want every student to feel that campus is a safe space (mentally and physically) where they can heal from the past year and focus on their future.
I want every student (transfers, parents, workers) to feel validated in their college path. Every Student’s path is the "correct" way to do college.
I will always listen to what a student has to say.

My name is Herby Fullmer and I’m running for Student Body President at Utah Valley University. I am a Microbiology major and I dance on the UVU Hip Hop company after class. I'm from Haiti and the 9th kid in a family of 10. There are many things that are important to me, one of which is being honest, not only with what I say, but more importantly, how I live. I have been a lot of things in life so far. I've been a construction worker, Actor/Model, I served an LDS Mission have been to 3 different universities. I have many hobbies like Ceramics, Ice-skating, Hiking and Traveling, I even started a Podcast lol. I want to live my life to the fullest and the truest way I can. I believe that living an honest life is one of the best ways to create meaningful purpose and happiness. Too many people put off their dreams because of feelings of Fear and Inadequacy, Inferiority or unworthiness. Chasing one's dreams is downright hard work and that first step is daunting. I want to motivate my fellow students at UVU to take that first step, to truly pursue their dreams and passions. Not everything you try in life works exactly like we wish it too. I have definitely hade major setbacks in my own experiences but the important part is that I tried my hardest. Here at UVU I want to create a place where we can live life a little fuller and a little more honest. While school is important my Father always told me to "never let my Education get in the way of my Learning". We have 4 years together to become whoever we want to be so Don't let this time go to waste and don't let life get between you and your dreams. The biggest competition we face was never Me Vs You, It was always U Vs U.
I first and foremost love my time here at UVU. The biggest qualifier is that I wish to make the place I love just a little bit better
I'm active on campus, very social and talk to many people in the halls. I have talked to many people about the kind of place they want UVU to become. Since I haven't been in any UVUSA positions prior I'm coming into this with a completely fresh point of view, without bias.
I'm greatly involved in the Arts department and the Science departments at UVU and know how to bridge that gap between two very different things. In my personal life I also bridge gaps and can relate to many people in different walks of life and accept every person as they are.
I'm on the Institute council at Utah Valley Institute. I know the difference between Managing and Leading and have experience doing both.
