Mark Brown

Mark is a student-athlete at Utah Valley University majoring in finance with a minor in philosophy. He has lived in seven different countries spanning North America, Europe, Eastern Africa, and Central Asia. At UVU, he is a member of UVU’s Division I Men’s Soccer team, a Wolverine Ambassador, a Foundation Ambassador, co-founded the University’s investment banking club and served as the Wolverine Fund’s Director of Finance during the 2019-2020 academic year. Outside of UVU, Mark worked for local investment banking and valuation firms Crewe Capital and Economics Partners. He also spent time interning in the Utah startup realm with Canopy Tax and &Collar and currently works as an associate at the University Growth Fund in Salt Lake City. Mark loves anything sports and has a goal to attend a championship game in each of the major US leagues as well as a World Cup and Champions League final.

Walker Holloway

Walker Holloway is a senior majoring in Finance. He joined the Wolverine Fund after developing an enthusiasm for VC while taking an intro to venture class. Since then he has gained more experience in investing through internships with Alta Ventures and Talos Holdings. Because of his interest in the world of finance he has also been a member of the Investment Banking club since it was formed. After graduating from UVU, Walker will likely seek a career In Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Management Consulting. In his personal life, Walker is an avid snowboarder and lists Brighton, Snowbaisin, and the north half of Park City as his favorite resorts. He also enjoys golf and traveling with his wife.

Dillon is a senior studying Business Management with a double-minor in Finance and Psychology. He moved to Utah in 2016 to work for SolutionReach, a medical SaaS company, before starting his own online consulting company, which he ran as a side project for three years. After attending programs at Shanghai Normal University and The University of Cambridge, he returned to UVU and gained interest in private equity and venture capital. Last year, when he wasn’t rock climbing, he was an active member of UVU’s Enactus Team and served as the Department Representative for Strategic Management in the Academic Senate. He is currently an intern at Clarke Capital, a member of the UVU Honor’s Program, and plans to stay in the private equity and venture capital space and further his education in an MBA program.

Kadee Jo Jones is a senior studying Communication with an emphasis in public relations. Upon her arrival to UVU, Kadee Jo was accepted into the Honors Program and published in the Journal of Student Leadership Volume I Issue II. Furthering her involvement, Kadee Jo completed an internship on Capitol Hill where she worked for Representative Jefferson Moss and assisted in his duties as Executive Appropriations Vice-Chair.

In her role within University Relations, Kadee Jo works with the Marketing, Communications, and Government Relations teams to foster positive relationships with the community, promote and protect UVU’s image and core values, and tell the UVU story to diverse audiences.

Kadee Jo is passionate about encouraging students to become leaders at a young age and played an elemental role in instituting the Know Greater Heroes program in elementary schools across Lehi City during her time as Miss Lehi 2017. More recently, she was crowned Miss UVU 2020. Kadee Jo loves to write and has had more than 100 articles published in various capacities. Upon her graduation, Kadee Jo plans on obtaining a master’s degree in Public Relations, followed by a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy.

Raul Lazo is a senior majoring in Finance and minoring in Business Management. After completing Intro to Venture Capital, Raul joined the Wolverine Fund to expand his skills and knowledge in the world of VC. His goal is to work in Venture Capital upon graduation. He enjoys the teamwork involved when working on deals with startups and the opportunity to meet with inspirational entrepreneurs. For the past five years, he has worked at eLearning Brothers as a Senior Account Executive, managing hundreds of accounts presenting training software solutions to small business and fortune 500 companies. He is a combat sports enthusiast with hopes of one day learning the art of jiu-jitsu. He also enjoys biking, hunting, and playing pickleball in his free time.

For the last year he has worked for KPMG focusing on tariff advisory and audits. He speaks Spanish fluently, loves to golf, and strives to constantly be growing in every way possible.

Katelyn is a sophomore studying finance with a minor in economics. She has worked at various marketing companies and has a background in SEO, digital marketing, and copywriting. She is passionate about business and enjoys being involved in clubs. Katelyn is currently the Vice President of the Marketing Association and the Treasurer of the Investment Banking Club. After graduation, Katelyn plans to pursue a career in Private Equity and obtain her MBA. Katelyn’s hobbies include reading, photography, listening to music, and drawing.

Chris is a junior studying Economics with a minor in Finance. At UVU, he has been involved as a member of PTK & NSCS honor societies, economics research assistant to Dr. Amir Kia, student body presidential candidate, and Wolverine Fund junior associate.

Chris currently works as an analyst for KPMG's Salt Lake City office in the Trade & Customs department. After UVU he plans on obtaining a JD MBA in pursuit of a career in strategy, and possibly venture capital/private equity. Chris enjoys audiobooks, playing basketball & spikeball, and trying new food places.

Taggart is a Business Management student with a minor in Applied Data Analytics. His passion for entrepreneurship led him to start his own business and he is currently a marketing analyst for a local service company. After graduating at the end of 2021, Taggart will pursue a career in Venture Capital where he can merge his passion for entrepreneurship and analysis to help grow companies to their potential. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games with his family, boating on the lake, and racing around a track.

Jefferson Moss

Jefferson received his B.A. in Political Science and his M.B.A. both Brigham Young University. While in his MBA, he was also accepted into BYU's Cougar Capital venture program.

Jefferson Moss is the divisional executive director for UVU Institutional Advancement and COO for the UVU Foundation. In this role, he provides the day-to-day management of the University endowment. He also helps facilitate new alternative investment strategies that the Foundation is pursuing. In addition, he oversees the development services team, which includes database management and prospect research. Recently he also launched and now directs the Wolverine Fund, a student-run venture fund, and the Excellence and Innovation Initiative.

Prior to coming to UVU, Moss launched and sold multiple companies and then served as a wealth strategist for Key Bank and Credit Suisse in their private banks sectors. 

Moss is active in the community. He currently serves as an elected member of the Utah State Board of Education. He also served on the Utah State Board of Regents and was elected to serve a term on the City Council in Saratoga Springs. He currently serves in the Utah State House of Representatives.

Brayden Cutler was born in Salt Lake City, and raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He graduated in 2012 concurrently from Pleasant Grove High School and Utah Valley University with a two-year degree. After graduating he spent two years serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Columbus, Ohio. He recently graduated from UVU with a degree in Business Management and Speech Communications. Brayden guest lectures for UVU, interned for Dr. Paul Parkin preparing and teaching a communications course, he was a Foundation Ambassador, and was in the first cohort of UVU’s student-run venture fund, the Wolverine Fund. His favorite opportunity has been working with Stanford University as an Innovation Fellow and strives to live up to that title every day!  He is passionate about the design thinking process and believes that empathy is the key to life. He spends his free time with his wife, pickleballing, sailing, rock climbing, and trail running. His greatest accomplishments would be convincing his wife, Jenny Phillips, to marry him; and sailing across the Gulf of Mexico in a 37-foot skiff. He loves spending time with his family and being around people. If you want to find him, look for a green hammock in the mountains! ☺

Matt Peterson is a Utah Local, He attended Brigham Young University for his undergrad and graduate studies. While at BYU, he sat on BYU's venture fund, Cougar Capital.  

Soon after graduating, Matt began working on his own startup, Jive Communications. In 2018, Jive was purchased by  LogMeIn, for $357 million. 

Since the  purchase of Jive,  Matt runs UVU's student-run venture fund and has created a  venture due-diligence  firm known as MEZY.

Bryson started his career at Arthur Andersen in Washington DC providing audit and consulting services to a variety of clients After his time at Arthur Andersen, he implemented two Sarbanes Oxley compliance programs, one at Nextel Communications (NYSE S) and the other at Harcourt Education (NASDAQ HMHC) Bryson then returned to business school, and upon graduating, worked as an investment banker for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the US and Latin America financial institutions group He was also Senior Principal at a boutique advisory firm that assists small and medium sized businesses obtain growth capital Bryson has raised over 3 7 billion in public and private capital offerings He received a B S in Accounting and M B A from BYU where he was a Hawes Scholar Bryson is also a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Accreditation in Business Valuation ( from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

Rob is a partner and co-founder of Alta Global Ventures and Managing Director of Kickstart Peru Seed Fund.

Rob's last position was Head of Growth at Juxta Labs. While there Rob played a key role in creating the new social app Mappen which at the time of this writing is the #5 Social Networking app in the appstore. Rob helped develop new digital growth strategies which led to Juxta's apps going viral at schools across the US.

He was previously CEO at Alta - El Dorado Emprendimiento where he worked to help launch the venture industry in Peru. Before that Rob was a Principal and founding team member at Alta Ventures Mexico. Additionally Rob was VP of Sales at Rhomobile. As the first executive hired by Rhomobile, Rob ran sales, operations and finance, successfully helping to lead the company to an exit with Motorola Solutions. That exit represented the highest IRR achieved by both its institutional investors. Rob spent two years before that as a venture capital professional with vSpring Capital. In that position, Rob learned best practices in fundraising, deal sourcing, due diligence, venture deal structuring, and venture portfolio management. He held board observer positions with The American Academy, Aeroprise, Public Engines, FamilyLink, Rhomobile, and Drive Safety.

Rob received his MBA and JD degrees from Brigham Young University. While studying at Brigham Young, Rob excelled academically and was awarded an academic scholarship. Additionally, Rob served as the Legal Affairs Director of Brigham Young University’s student run private equity fund, Cougar Capital. As an undergraduate student, Rob attended Utah State University on a leadership scholarship and graduated cum laude with a degree in Liberal Arts and Science. After his time at Utah State, Rob spent a year in Washington DC working for United States Senator Robert F. Bennett. Rob currently resides in Salt Lake City, UT and is a proud husband and father of four daughters and a son.

Brad Hoke grew up in North Carolina, where he attended Hickory High School before eventually moving to Utah where he started multiple companies and attended Utah Valley University. After graduating for UVU is Business Management he continued on to BYU’s Marriott School of business for his MBA. During his graduate studies, Brad was in charge of marketing and strategy for BYU’s venture fund, Cougar Capital. In this role he directed a variety of governance duties to ensure the overall health of the venture fund ($2.5mm+ AUM) and tracked the progress of each portfolio company. Evaluated investment opportunities in early stage tech startups, conducting due diligence and valuation work for each, and presented to investment committee for approval.

After graduating he was hired at Adobe to lead the strategic assessments of digital marketing capabilities for Adobe’s top Verticals including, FSI, Retail, M&E, HealthCare, Government, Travel and Hospitality, Automotive, High-Tech and Telco, and do so globally. This includes conducting analysis on possible new verticals for investment and purposing how deep that investment should be in each of vertical. I also act as the chief of staff for the Industry Strategy team and work closely with all the Industry Strategy leads across the globe to scale their efforts and best practices across all 10 of our focus verticals. I also take lead on all, major projects and activities that brings all of our industries together for one POV, including Sales Conferences and Adobe Summit.

Adam is a professor of finance at UVU and is excited to be part of the Wolverine Fund for the unparalleled experience it provides students to apply their education by investing real dollars and participating in live deals. His work experience includes positions with Citigroup’s investment banking division in New York; Banco Itaú in São Paulo, Brazil; and Intermountain Healthcare in Utah. Adam received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Utah State University and a doctoral degree in business administration (emphasis in finance) from Penn State University. He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking in the Wasatch Mountains, and traveling, especially throughout Latin America.
