New snow day policy
To see the updated Snow Day Policy, check your email from December 7. You should have received a message from [email protected] with the title 'New Snow Day Policy' that explains two different scenarios and how messaging will be sent out.
New Associate vice president of University Relations
Steve Anderson has been appointed as the new Associate Vice President of University Relations. In this new role, Steve will have responsibility for government, community, and strategic relations.
In his nine years as a UVU employee, he has worked as an out-of-state recruiter in prospective student services, director of community and government relations, and senior director of strategic relations. In each of these roles, he has positively enhanced the university’s outreach, partnerships, and reputation.

UVUFit Holiday health challenge
The 12 Days of Wellness Challenge will start December 1, 2021, and through January 15, 2022. Participation in the 12 Days of Wellness Challenge will help keep your mind focused and your body in good health into the New Year. To participate, click on the enrollment link or go to the UVUFit webpage in the Employee Benefits Tab of myUVU. Program instructions will be provided via email prior to December 1. Employees covered under one of UVU’s medical plans can receive points towards their UVUFit Tier 2 Employee Wellness Incentive by participating in the 12 Days of Wellness Challenge. Full-Time staff need to use vacation and personal leave by December 23
Full-time employees will lose all personal leave and any vacation hours over 240 on December 31. There are 3 paid holidays in November for Thanksgiving and 6 paid holidays in December for Christmas/New Year's, so be sure to figure that into your time off--plus the leave you will be accruing in the paychecks before the end of 2021.
Part-time staff can make up holiday hours
Part-time staff may work more hours before and/or after holidays with supervisor approval as long as the Payroll time policies are followed (not more than 39 hours per week AND less than 120 hours in November and 112 hours in December).
Power BI Summit March 7-11, 2022
If you are interested in attending the Power BI Summit in March 2022, let your supervisor know. It is $99 per person and is entirely virtual.

The Sorensen Student Center is undergoing the first phase of its rebuild. The food court, UVU Campus Store, UVU Utah Community Credit Union, and Center for Social Impact will remain open during construction. See UVU's Pardon Our Dust site or the map of construction around the SC building.

Jeff Johnson leaving UVU
Jeff Johnson will be leaving UVU in January to take on the role of Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He and Linda Makin will be working out details of the transition over the next couple of weeks, and he expects his final working day at UVU will be sometime in mid-January.
