Zoom

UVU IT, in close coordination with Academic Affairs, has determined that Zoom is not an approved nor supported video conferencing solution for employee or student use.  We are not considering adding Zoom to our suite of products. We came to this conclusion for the following reasons:

  1. Zoom requires computer operating system changes that are both unusual and unsafe.
  2. Hackers exploit security vulnerabilities (bugs) in Zoom's software on a regular basis, putting privacy and property at risk for all users.
  3. Even when there are no known software bugs, configuring Zoom to function securely is complex and time consuming.
  4. The negative repercussions of using Zoom on our students and faculty could be severe.  See https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2020/03/26/zoombombers-disrupt-online-classes-racist-pornographic-content
  5. UVU has two fully supported and secure alternative solutions for video conferencing. Adding an additional product will only dilute the knowledge and ability of our support staff to meet your needs. Please see OTL (linked below) for those products and training.

Please see any or all of the following to learn about the remote teaching and working solutions UVU offers:
