The Central Plant generates hydronic (water) sourced heating and cooling which is then delivered through a network of pipes connected to each building.  Central Plant teams work to maintain this system and others throughout the campus and satellite buildings.  Operation of the equipment is managed by a computer-based network program referred to as the "BAS" (Building Automation System).  The BAS directs or automates mechanical equipment to work in unison as fully functioning systems.  These systems direct the water to fan coils within campus buildings, heating and cooling the coils - depending on the temperature being called for in each room.  Air is pushed across the coils providing comfortable work and study spaces.
