The First-Generation Student Success Center is eager to help first-gen students succeed in college. We offer numerous first-generation college student scholarships and tuition waivers each semester.

The scholarships offered by the First-Gen Student Success center vary in commitment levels, quantity, and requirements so that more of the students we aid may qualify for a First-Gen center award.

First-Gen Resident Waiver

The First-Gen Resident Waiver grants first-generation college students up to half in-state tuition, dependent upon other scholarships and grants. Students can reapply for up to 8 semesters. This waiver is not valid during the summer semester.

No application necessary; students only need to indicate that they are first-gen on Scholarship Universe to be considered.

Requirements

Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
Must be enrolled in 12 credit hours or more
Must complete FAFSA

WSB Hope Scholar Scholarship

This scholarship is designed for first-generation business students. The program offers activities, monthly workshops, and mentoring to support your college journey.

Requirements

Admitted and enrolled full-time at Utah Valley University.
Pursuing a degree, declared in a major in the Woodbury School of Business.
Maintain a Utah Valley University cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Qualify as a first-generation, college student.

Josephine Chatfield First-Generation Scholarship

Recipients are automatically considered for the Josephine Chatfield Scholarship when they answer the first-gen questions in ScholarshipUniverse.

Students must complete a FAFSA and demonstrate need.

Recipients are automatically considered for the First-Generation General Scholarship when they answer first-gen questions in ScholarshipUniverse.

ScholarshipUniverse is Utah Valley University’s scholarship portal. When you fill out your profile, make sure to mark that you are a first-generation student so you can be entered for direct award scholarships.
