Model United Natoins is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.  

General Information:

Registration fee: $50 per school registration had CLOSED.  The $5 per each student registration fee can be paid up until the day of the conference, February 1, 2020. Teams can consist of either a single student or pairs - be sure to clarify when you register. Conference materials and a box lunch are included in the student registration fee.

Minor Participation Agreement: As this event will include minors, ALL STUDENTS must complete the Activity Participation Agreement for Minors form and send then to the Office for Global Engagement via the following email addresses: or The form MUST have the guardian's signature to be valid! If you are not able to scan and email the signed form, please turn in the original signed form at the Registration Table on the day of the conference. 

Conference Time and Location: The conference will take place from approximately 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM in various locations in the Clarke Building at Utah Valley University (UVU).

UVUMUN 2020 Advisor Information and Guide to Delegate Preparation

Important Dates:

MONDAY, January 6, 2020

  • Online Registration closes - $50 per school
  • Country Preference due - Each school can submit up to 7 country preferences chosen from the following countries: Austria, Belarus, Bolivia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Haiti, Israel, India, Japan, Mexico, Morroco, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, Senegal, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, United States of America, and Venezuela. Be sure to list your top choice first. All assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis. 

 MONDAY, January 20, 2020

  • Opening Addresses due - Each school may submit ONE address to be given in the conference's opening assembly for consideration. The speeches should address the topic of: What the State of Utah is doing to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Select one of the 17 SDGs. The speech should be written from the State of Utah perspective. The speech may not be longer than one page typed, double-spaced in no smaller than 12-point font. Along with the speech, please send biographical information of no more than one paragraph about the speaker. 
  • Security Council Candidacy due - An individual student or advisor may submit one sentence on why the student would be a good candidate to the following email: Be sure to include the full name of the student and school. 

 THURSDAY, January 30, 2020

  • Policy Papers due - Policy papers (one page, double-spaced) should be emailed by this date to:  Remember that delegates submitting late papers are ineligible for a "superior" delegate distinction. 

 SATURDAY, February 1, 2020

  • Individual Delegate Payment due - $5 per student

  1. Addressing Pandemics and Other Global and Regional Health Crises
  2. Strengthening Implementation of the Health-related Sustainable Development Goals

United Nations Security Council:

Topics to be determined at the time of the convening of the conference.  An individual student or advisor may submit one sentence on why the student would be a good candidate to the following email:  Be sure to include full name of the student and school. 

Volunteers must complete the Volunteer Agreement form, Students under 18 must complete the Activity Participation Agreement for Minors form.
