Ceremony Dress Code

Graduates will wear their required graduation regalia (Bought yours yet?). Grads are encouraged to wear business attire under their regalia. Guests are encouraged to wear smart casual dress (jeans OK, pajamas probably not).

Guests should avoid clothing that could potentially distract other guests or diminish the ability of other guests to enjoy the event — so leave the three-foot-tall top hat at home.

For Graduates:

  • Yourself! Make sure to wear your graduation regalia, plus any additional accessories you’d like.

For Guests

  • Guests should avoid bringing:
    • Air horns or other artificial noisemakers
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Any food or drink (including bottled water)
    • Balloons

Participating in the Processional

UVU’s graduation processional is the event that officially kicks off our commencement ceremonies. You’ll join your classmates in a celebratory walk through the halls of UVU and into the UCCU Center, where you’ll take your seats to “Pomp and Circumstance” before the commencement program begins.

At 6 p.m. sharp, the bagpipers will start playing, and the processional will begin. Graduates will proudly walk down the Hall of Flags through the Pope Science Building. UVU faculty and staff will cheer for the graduates, joining the processional as it progresses.

The processional will turn toward the UCCU Center at the Liberal Arts Building crossroads. Graduates will enter the UCCU Center and   proceed to their seats.

So, get ready to don your cap and gown and join the proud graduates who have come before you. This is your moment to shine, and we can't wait to see you take your place in the convocation processional. See you at the Fugal Gateway Building at 5:30 p.m. sharp!
