Dantes Subject Standardized Tests

Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) exams provide students — especially adult learners and military-affiliated individuals — with the opportunity to earn college credit for knowledge gained outside the traditional classroom. Originally designed for military service members, DSST exams are now available to all learners and cover a wide range of academic subjects. At Utah Valley University, qualifying DSST scores may fulfill general education or elective requirements, helping students accelerate their academic progress.

Scheduling DSST Exams

Students can take DSST exams through UVU Testing Services. Exams are offered year-round by appointment.

To schedule your DSST exam:

  1. Register for your desired DSST exam through the Prometric website.
  2. After registering, visit the Testing Center’s Exam page to schedule your exam at the Testing Center.
  3. Review the DSST Policies and Procedures to prepare for your test day.

Submitting DSST Scores

To receive credit for DSST exams at UVU, students must request that their official score report be sent directly from Prometric, the DSST exam provider.

How to send your scores:

  1. Visit the Prometric website.
  2. Sign in or create an account.
  3. Select “Send Scores” and choose Utah Valley University as the recipient.
  4. Complete the request and submit payment.

DSST Score Expiration

DSST scores do not expire. However, UVU requires that scores be sent directly from Prometric to be considered official.
