Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting – Part 139 Recurrent Training – 8 hr

This FAA 139.319 Recurrent training course is designed for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) personnel to meet the annual training and performance requirements outlined in FAR Part 139.319. This course provides a comprehensive review of ARFF procedures, aircraft familiarization, airport familiarization, emergency communications, firefighting strategies & tactics, rescue techniques, hazardous materials awareness, and the operation of ARFF vehicles and equipment. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical drills, participants will demonstrate proficiency in critical response tasks, ensuring continued compliance with FAA regulations and maintaining readiness for aircraft emergencies. Students receive live fire experience and training in accordance with FAR 139.319

Prerequisites & Information:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Certified
  • Student must provide their own PPE (Turn-out gear)
  • Student must provide their own SCBA & mask
  • Lunch is not provided
  • Must attend full class to receive credit
  • IFSTA ARFF 7th edition manual is recommended but not required  (Available to order for fire departments through UFRA here.)

Aircraft Rescue Firefighter-40 Hour Basic Course

Tuition: $1425 (out-of-state)  $550 (in-state)

This course provides foundational training for emergency response personnel responsible for aircraft crash rescue and firefighting operations. The course covers key topics including aircraft types and hazards, airport familiarization, firefighting techniques, rescue operations, communication procedures, and the use of specialized Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) equipment. Emphasizing both classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises, this training ensures participants develop the essential skills and knowledge required to respond safely and effectively to aircraft emergencies in accordance with FAA and NFPA standards. Students receive live fire experience and training in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) 139.319
